Edited by: Kell Braugh on 07/03/2008 01:24:52 I think they kinda made the Tier III BS a bridge between BS and Caps in the sense they are the huge, powerful, skill intensive BSs that, like Caps, dying relatively easy when alone, but can also make a massive change of tide in larger fleet battles .

Well capital ships are kind of a class of their own outside that of the smaller ship classes. They aren't to battleships what battleships are to cruisers and cruisers to frigates.

I giggled.
Tier 2 is better than Tier 3 for fleets, except the rokh, which is a red-headed stepchild. Apoc is better than abaddon, Tempest is better than Maelstrom, and Megathron is better than Hyperion. The raven isn't too bad for support either.
Tier 3s are OKAY, but they are kind of lacking. As a minmatar pilot with BS 5 and large T2 projectile skills, I can honestly say that I've never even bought a maelstrom.

The Maelstrom and Abaddon really excel when you're using smaller close range gangs. The size where their superior short term gank/tank excels, but the gang is still large enough that you do have specialized tacklers. You do need "lesser" battleships with them to provide utility (Heavy Nos and stuff to discourage Nanos etc). ______________________________________________ -You can never earn my respect, only lose it. Obviously neither Tech 2 battleships nor Tier 3 battleships nor faction battleships are what the OP is asking about.
While it might be cool to have some kind of "heavy battleships" which are just slower and more heavily armed and armored and with a few extra slots compared to a battleship, similar to how a cruiser compares to a BC, it'd take a lot of game redesign, as a lot of stuff is balanced around battleships being the biggest subcapitals.
