Which afterburner should be used for mining barges. According to the database 1Mn is frigate and 10Mn cruiser class. What class are the mining barges ?

Aside from novelty why would you put a AB on a Mining Barge?
They have one mid slot, which usually has a Survey Scanner in it so you don't waste cycles. They also don't really have much in the way of cap either so you won't be able to run the AB for long anyway if you're thinking of using it for escape tactics, not to mention the 200 m/s or so you're going to get out of it won't let you escape most ships.

In terms of "sizing", it's simply whichever one fits within the barge's powergrid. Since the 10MN ABs take up 50 powergrid, it looks like you'd be stuck with using a 1MN AB (though you could get a 1MN MWD on there instead). Since a Covetor weighs 40 kilotons instead of the 1 kilotons that the frigate-sized mods are designed for, you would get 3.7% of their advertised thrust. A T1 afterburner would give you an extra 4 m/s, before skills.
So to answer your original question: Quote: Which afterburner should be used for mining barges.
Seriously, none - it's not worth it.

the only way I know how to make barges and exhumers fast is to have a friend in a nano'phoon playing miner bowling...

Barges are hurting so much for cap that you'll suck it dry before you can even think of getting to where you wanted to go. I'd have to agree, its not worth it.

If you're thinking "battle barge" you'll want a webber or warp scrambler in your mid slot, to hold them down while you kill them.

If you're trying to get to a better spot to mine in a belt, scout the belts ahead of time in a frigate with a survey scanner. Pick your spots and make bookmarks. Then warp your barge directly to the bookmark.
To get to a different spot in the same belt, it's generally faster in a barge to warp to the nearest planet, then warp back to the other bookmark.

Another option is warping in at 100km from the "correct" side, which puts many asteroids at 150km+, allowing you to do a mini-warp to them. But then you might as well bookmark to get there faster. ---- EVE-Central.com - Your EVE economic and corporate site, featuring the inter-region market browser |
