I played EVE a few years ago, came back recently before graphics patch, then left again for a while until the patch was all sorted out.
so today I logged in and went to my home away from home to kill sansha in my Retri.
Cleared a spawn, opened wrecks, select all, drag to cargo as usual... cargo full. From one wreck.
I manually checked the volumes of the items to see what it was.
apparently a heavy pulse laser is 100m3. Kind of weird considering a mega pulse laser is 50m3.
I understand that not everything should be the same size... but it seems bizarre to me.
Is this some weir bug/screw up? Or working as intended?

It's a "Fix" for "Mineral Compression" - They've adjusted t1 item volumes to reflect the materials required to manufacture them.

Yep - they nerfed mineral compression through modules, basically. However, they said that they will be reducing volume in the near future as some modules are bigger than they need to be.

"Fix" with sledgehammer instead of a little knife to a problem called "mineral compression" .. Typical CCP!

this "fix to mineral compression" messed up things for most of us:
- it nerfs cargo space
- it forces us to look up an item's volume before buying it remotely
- it's bad for immersion and gameplay, as it renders module size inconsistent and counter-intuitive, and forces people to waste either time or loot
i've hardly done any ratting eversince.
