Edited by: nomlasmit on 07/03/2008 17:08:21 You guys have played every match trying to stop the opposing team from winning with benny hill tactics...
In your last match with Cry Havoc you deliberatley took your final two ishtars into neut/web range and stopped dead when there was approx 2mins left to deny the THD.
You better come up with a damn good explaination for this as right now you have a lot of very angry pirates.

What I am wondering is why did Cry Havoc get a Total hell death seeing as they only showed up with 99points. I thought the definition of a perfect win was killing all opponents without giving a single point away.

I can see it already, this group = fixed results. The last match we will see ED win, but with Cry Havoc scoring at least 23 points on honortanked 0 m/s ED ships.

Edited by: Friedrick Psitalon on 07/03/2008 17:42:51 Bear in mind this is BRUCE's first alliance tournament, and frankly, we're trying different and various tactics to get the job done. We had no illusions of winning, and weren't even sure we'd advance. What we're doing is sampling different tools. I dare say the impressive experience of Pandemic Legion in this tournament is a result of having done this before - you might bear that in mind - you were flying in these tournaments before BRUCE (and many of its players!) even existed.
In the first match, the "Benny Hilling" as the commentators called it was us flying around killing Vigils. After that, we went for an Abbadon, and did the best we could to kill it. What do you suggest? That we simply stop the eight interceptors (not the five EVE TV reported) and let them die? Give you the extra points? No thanks, we wanted a game of it. Just because the commentators lacked the wit to count how many Inties we had on the field until late, and didn't recognize we weren't prepared for a three-battleship setup doesn't make it invalid. Most assuredly, eight interceptors would've made any cruiser-based gang pretty miserable. That being said, Pandemic thought further ahead, a credit to their skills and experience, and deserved the win. I'm not sure what "Benny Hill" tactics you think were used - we never stopped shooting and never stopped trying to win.
In the second match, we were defeated rather soundly by superior ECM. The order to stay alive was given to the two Interceptors because after the 0-0 of Havoc-Legion, we could still advance if we denied Ethereal Dawn a TotalHellDeath. There was nothing unsound in that decision; we were in it to advance like everyone else. Those Crows, by the way, were intended for anti-Kitsune/Griffin duty, while mounting a damp to assist our own ECM in "sealing" jams after the fact. One crow survived and we wanted to prevent ED from getting a TotalHellDeath, in case we did very well against Havoc and MC - a long shot, but would you have done differently? "No, Jester, just stop and die." I have more respect for Pandemic than to assume they'd give up like that - why should we?
The third match we were a bit shocked by - we were confident we could endure Smartbombs on our drones long enough to kill the Guardian; cross-repping Guardians had failed to endure the damage on test. Credit to Havoc; we weren't expecting shield-and-armor repping, and so the Guardian endured, and our drones died. We were then trying to avoid the tracking of those murderous Bouncer IIs while killing them, but we popped too fast for the effort. We did not suicide against Havoc; they had Neuts on their Domis and moved such that orbiting the Bouncers took us too close to them. When they did, our mistake was pounded. We're going to make a lot of mistakes - that's how it goes. We were concentrating on killing the Bouncer II's, and the pilots on the field didn't notice we'd strayed too close to the Domis, which were closing quietly. Much credit to Havoc for their play.
BRUCE is working hard, trying new things, learning a lot, and doing the best we can. No one would expect different. We've never stopped fighting, never stopped trying, never stopped bringing it, and never paid much attention to people who don't like our style. Are we the best team in our bracket? Not even close! We never claimed to be. We're having fun, though, trying new things, and we're learning. We flatly refuse to adopt any of the setups we're seeing everyone else use, and we're going to continue making our own road. That's all the explanation any BRUCE ever needs.
Much respect to the Legion. We didn't give up against you, Dawn, or Havoc - and we won't be giving up against MC, either. There is nothing more important to BRUCE than its integrity, and most assuredly, we don't "give" anyone a totalhelldeath - or sell it, either.
LONG LIVE THE BRUCES!

Not really, we did the best we could in this tournament and didn't lose a match. It's out of our hands now if we progress or not.
BRUCE chose to suicide their ships in the end, instead of avoiding points loss as they did against PL and Cry Havoc. It's within their rights to do so and there's nothing wrong with it.
Bracket C has been very suprising, which is good... ED has performed well and today totally suprised us to the point of a lot of "oh sh..." on teamspeak before the match went down. Cry Havoc. has put in a very solid performance and I for one would be upset to not see them progress.
Sure some of our non-tourney participants are a bit upset at BRUCE, but that's all part of the fun & drama that makes these tourneys interesting . Pretend drama to blow people up later in a serious-business internet spaceship game and all that!

Thank you Friedrick for an honest and detailed explaination...
PL never have and never will do things by halves.
Since I have been involved with this alliance I have never seen a group of players who are so dedicated and good at what they do.
We did not take Bruce to be the comedy option as we expected better of you. So I think you can see the frustration when we get the THD required and then see our hard work undone with a matter of minutes to play.

If you don't lose anything you field you get the THD, you'll still give up unused points.

The draw points are handled in a flawed fashion.
We've got 2 THDs and a draw without a single ship loss, and this makes our position a little shaky as well.
We'd both have been better off just SD'ing an equal amount of our team before time ran out so that both sides would have gained points as we moved on. Kind of a sad reality.

I agree also.
Either way, watching my fellow alliance and corpmates compete.. I think CH has made a statement to say the least. The point system is flawed in that matter, but so be it.
Rock on guy.
