Yes, the price reflects the extreme rarity and high demand of good large lasers. I expect only devoted Amarrian subjects or stinking rich alliance folk to offer serious bids. Imagine the prestige of owning one of these beauties! _____________________________________ Perpetually driven, your end is our beginning. "Can I be a consultant for EVE II?" - WhiteDwarf |

So let me get this straight,
the first offer that has to be made has to be minimal 100mil? or when the auction hits 100mil the item is instantly sold??? __________________________

I think he means that he reserves the right not to sell it if the bidding doesn't go above 100 mil.

Usually reserve means that if you offer 100 mil you get the mega beam, but doesnt mean that he expects to reach it that high.
So basicly if the auction would end with noone offering more then 35 mil (40 mil must be offered atleast) then that hamish fellow would receive it. -------- -The only real drug problem is scoring real good drugs

No you're thinking of an ebay-esque 'buy it now' price. An auction 'estimate' or 'guide' price is the rough idea of how much an item is worth (not found on ebay). An auction 'reserve' price is the price below which the seller retains the right not to sell (works on ebay prety much just like a real auction).

Ah. People freakin HATE reserves, as I learned by trying to auction off some kinda rare thing on earth and beyond one time. I knew what it was worth, they knew what I was selling for, and everybody knew how rare it was. But they wanted to fight tooth and nail to get to that price, not start there. I would've been just as well off doing a WTS at that price. So why not change your subject to WTS whatchacallit beam? ---

Edited by: DigitalCommunist on 08/04/2004 16:16:55 Let me clarify.. the reserve is high because I may want to keep the gun for myself, its a neat collecters item and I don't really need the isk. But that doesn't mean I wont sell it if the highest bid for it is below the reserve.
Highest bid now is 55mil. _____________________________________ Perpetually driven, your end is our beginning. "Can I be a consultant for EVE II?" - WhiteDwarf |
