Personally, I would like to be able to see people I want to avoid or kill in local at a glance. When in a system with 90+ people, you almost have to read all the names to find out if anyone is there that you want dead or are at war with. I think this could be solved simply enough by a 'baddies' list, or perhaps something with a better name. Basically the same as a buddies list, it puts an orange or yellow square on people instead of green. Or, if this is too drastic, be able to give people in your buddies list a secondary colour to distinguish between buddies and baddies.
Any reasons why this is a bad idea are welcome, of course, but try to keep it civil.

You can make folders already in your buddies list for baddies

Just adding a new folder will still show them as a green 'online' light in local.
Another solution, could be an option to choose different colours for the buddies 'online' light - this shouldnt cause any issues with lag or data transfer as it could be made to work like the folders and be client only data.

The folders option is bugged, if you have a lot of names in your list then you cant drag names to a folder. It would be nice if you could just move a name to a folder, rather than it staying in the "all buddies" list.

Edited by: Elsebeth Rhiannon on 08/04/2004 13:11:53 Even when you have a long list, you can do a search for a person, and then drag him/her from the search results to the bad... I mean buddy-folder.
Also, you can tear the "all buddies" folder off from the main window to be it's own little window, and then drag the people from there to the folders.
I am fairly certain I also dragged someone straight from local channel list to baddie list yesteday; not 100 % certain recollection of this, though, and don't have the game here on this Linux computer so can't check for certain.
Funny how a little war teaches you all kinds of UI things, fast. :)
*Edit* Just wanted to add that giving a different online color for different groups of buddies feels like a nifty feature, and I sure would use it myself. However, I'm not certain if being able to tag baddies like this wouldn't make it a little too easy to spot them - I mean, it's not actually difficult right now, and making it even easier might unbalance things too much?

Ohhh, How about your standings toward a pc be color coded as its on the screen in local. So if you see a gang member ship the same color would be under his name in local chat. --------------------------
