This is my Paladin setup for mission running in Empire space.
I can perma-run the large armor repairer and active hardeners with it.
Can anyone think of improvements?
High 4x Mega Beam Laser II, Gleam L 2x Small Tractor Beam I 1x Salvager I
Middle 1x 100MN Afterburner II 3x Cap Recharger II
Low 2x Rat-specific active armor hardeners II 2x Rat-specific passive armor hardeners II 1x Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II 1x Large Armor Repairer II 1x Heat Sink II
Rigs 2x Capacitor Control Circuit II
Drones 5x light drones 5x medium drones
If I wanted to mission run in low sec or 0.0, I would swap a tractor beam for a cloaking device.

I use a very similar setup for missioning with the same number and type of hardners and I believe a DCU II will give you slightly higher resists than an EANM II due to stacking penalty.
Also, can't wait for my Paladin.

I was using mine with this setup
4High 4x Mega Beam Laser II faction crystalls always 2x Small Tractor Beam I 1x Salvager I med: 3 cap rech and domination web - this web gives - 99% speed
about low slots, I dont like to swithch hardeners, so I was using an omni tank
2 hs expl, thermic, kinetic and 1 true sansha eamn centus a-type LAR
Unfortuntely this setup doesnt tank the hardest missions, so I am planning to change it to selinnes mega beams (higher damage and lower cap) 3 centus b-type hardeners, corpum eanm rigs 2 auxilary nano pump
This should tank any mission without too much of a problem

Well... you've got an afterburner on there, so you can dictate range - why not switch to mega pulse? The extra grid will allow you to fit a second large rep, taking full advantage of the Pally's rep bonus. The Pally can perma-run two of these while firing full guns, and if your AB skills are excellent, it can sustain that as well.
Additionally, not having a webber on that ship is a sin. I recommend Domination - 19km range overheated, with 99% effectiveness is nothing to sneeze at. You can even use your main guns to take out close-orbiting NPC frig tacklers once they're webbed.

1 x Amarr Navy Large Armor Repairer 3 x T2 Hardeners 2 x True Sansha Heat Sink 1 x True Sansha Capacitor Power Relay
2 x Capacitor Control Circuit I
Cap on the first is sustainable with everything running, cap on the second lasts about 18 minutes, but I figure I'll not be running everything all the time anyway. Don't know which fit I want to use though, decisions, decisions! -----

Assuming max skills, no implants, will a four slot (faction LAR/hardeners) tank be sufficient?

Any and all PVE setups should have at least 3 damage mods.
At least, that's my opinion.

With the 4x tach 3x HS you melt BSs in a few short blasts. BCs vaporize into wondeful little clouds of dust and frozen blood. Cruisers and frigs, if you catch them at long range, are sad, pointless creatues.
Why would you fit an AB to chase around rats when you can fit tachs and hit anywhere on the field at your pleasure? Im currently getting 31km optimal with 24km falloff with Navy MFs.
The only problem I have is hitting cruisers and frigs at under 25km. Its not usually a serious issue as I let my Hammerheads chew them up for me. The one exception is when they are Sansha cruisers useing TDs... that gets to be a bit of a pain.
I think if I fit a Gallente Navy Tracking Computer and a Domination Webber together even those annoying little ships would be blown away... but that would destroy my cap stability.

Dont forget gang bonuses.. 33% range with good leadership..

If you know what you are doing, you should never ever have to fit a kin or exp hard, and in pretty much any mission you are fine with just EM and therm hard (Sansha and Blood) or 2 EANMs (Drones, Mercs). Your primary tank should be your dps anyway. A 3rd Heat Sink is a better tanking module than a 3rd hardener ;)
And if you are using a Paladin for missions against Guristas and Angels, you need your head examined.

I been using this for all caldari/amarr missions....yes it does chew through guristas as well as sansha :
4 AN tachyons - navy crystals 3 drone links
3 or 4 cap chargers painter/web if 3 caps
core a-type LAR 4 passive membrane rat specific 2/3 HS dropping membrane if not needed
t2 med drones to suit rats
survives pretty much anything i been up against and melts BSs fast, drones pick of the rest
