For those not watching the tournament, lead dev Hammerhead just announced in an interview that amarr will be getting their long-wanted missing tech 1 frigate. Apparently it will be a basic version of the gold and silver magnate. Estimated release is summer. Cool beans.

I'm fairly new to the game, but what i'm heading through is the arbitrator to curse path. Can you give any info on what type of frigate it will be, will it be a small version of an arbitrator with a bigger drone bay than a crucifier?

most likely it will be the long-awaited astrometrics frigate that is lacking in the amarr frigate lineup. ---

Like the probe and Maulus?, so it should have a decent drone bay then?

no, like the probe, the imicus, and the heron.
and no, I would not expect a decent dronebay (of those 3 only the imicus has one, and that's because it's gallente).
a large cargo bay and bonuses to probe scanning however is the more correct. ---

One would expect it'll be two ships, an astrometrics and a covert ops.

Amarr already have their covert ops ships though. The only frigate they lack is a Tech I astrometrics one, so it's likely to only be that one. However, it might be interesting to see the Anathema changed to a Magnate model too
Edit: Although it's a little sad to hear that such lovely unique ships will become so common, even if the skin is changed. It was cool knowing that there were only a few Silver Magnates left in the EVE universe, and they were really special for their looks as well as their type.

Does it really mean anything? It's a piece of crap frigate type that no one uses it anyway, aside from new players looking to get into a tier 3 frigate.

won't happen, the gallente covops uses a different hull than the t1 astronometrics frigate already.

i hope so, i hate the crucifier hull it looks so flimsy and breakable.

that's because the astrometrics frigates were introduced after the covert op release.
that's why some became based off the Ewar frigate (maulus -> helios, crucifier -> anathema and vigil -> cheetah) and others are actually based on the astrometrics frig (heron -> buzzard)
it is the cause of some confusion, but just because it says "astrometrics" doesn't mean that it has to be cov ops. ---
