After hanging around in a noob corp channel with an alt today soemthing occurred to me while watching a new player receive advice.
Despite the newbie's containing PvP references he was advised to afk mine in an indy. He was advised not to engage in any combat.
Now for some this will suit them but for others it could be the worse thing ever.
My advice, seek as much advice as possible. Don't be afraid of getting popped early on, experiment and find out what you want to do. This is not like the other mmorpgs where there is a set path of quests you work your way through as a newbie.
/start sig I love old characters that post 'I've beeen playing the game four years' when I know their account has been sold on. /end sig |

lol exactly most older players in the noob corp are actually war dodging bears so in tends to be a one sided view.

Who would even subscribe to a game to play it "afk"? I see these guys in highsec Gallente space all the time, some with very old characters. I don't get it.

This is likely people making 'free monies' while they are off doing something else.
Some people will spend a few days training an alt to have some mediocre mining skills and an industrial ship so that when they are not playing their main they can log the alt in and put it in a belt and shoot rocks while they go off to the pub (or more likely alt tab out and look at tentacle hentai).
That aside, newb corp chat is the very worst place to look for advice XD -=^=-
