Looking at the modules involved, there is no mention of fuel requirements or anything? Does the Covert Jump Portal Generator I use any fuel or just the Cap. listed on the item descr. ?

I don't think it takes fuel to activate the mod, but it DOES take fuel for each ship that jumps through the portal, which varies depending on the mass of the ship jumping.

But what type of fuel?
Does the fuel need to be in the Black Ops BS or the ship that needs moving?
What are the limits on ship types that can be ported?
What is the fuel consumption like, i.e. where's the formula for calculating fuel?
Does the jump portal generation skill affect fuel consumption like it does with the regular portal?
Again I find the lack of documentation STAGGERING!

fuel needs to be in the Black Op.
I belive only force recons and cov-ops can use the portal
don't know the formula
don't know this either
aye, unless you're a forum w***3 like me or you actually fit and test this stuff on the test server, most people never know this stuff.

I am testing it as we speak, I cannot get it to work what am I doing wrong?
System A: Alt with cov ops cyno gen. System B: Black ops BS, and Cov ops frig
Black ops has jump fuel (one type of isotopes) I can "bridge to member" in the fleet menu once the field is up I cannot jump to member while the bridge is up (10 secs)
Cov ops frig cannot "jump to" member when the bridge is up.
Tried Stront, Ozone, Isotopes, nothing works...
There REALLY needs to be a guide for these things, or at least some HINT on the item descr. that allows SOME insight into what the hell was the intention with this?

Fuel type: racial isotopes. These are taken out of the Black Ops' cargo when another ship is using the portal.
Ship type limits: Covert ops-style ships (force recon, stealth bomber, covert ops, electronic attack ships [last untested]).
Fuel use formulas:
Originally by: You 400 isotopes per LY, -10% per level of Jump Fuel Conservation
Originally by: Ships using your portal Mass \ 16,250 * Distance in LY, -10% per level of Jump Portal Generation of pilot creating portal
What affects fuel use: Jump Fuel Conservation applies to only personal jump drive. Jump Portal Generation applies only to ships using your portal.

Edited by: Vmir Gallahasen on 11/03/2008 03:59:09 Sinque: The Black Ops itself has become a pseudo-stargate while the portal is up. Your covert ops alt cannot 'jump to' a member because it has no jump drive, but it can right-click on your black ops ship and choose 'Jump through to <system>'. Remember, the isotopes will come out of the black ops' cargo and they are the same type the ship itself needs to jump.

just to clarify, the isotopes need to be what the Black op uses to jump, and doesn't matter what the jumping ship (cov-op, force recon etc...) is, right?

Edited by: Sinque Elans''ror on 11/03/2008 04:44:27 Step by step Guide to using a Covert Jump Portal Generator I
What you need Black Ops Battleship with a Covert Jump Portal Generator I
Jump Fuel (Isotopes) relevant to the Black Ops type in cargo of Black Ops ship
A fleet member in a recon, stealthbomber, cov ops frig or black ops BS fitted with a Covert Cynosural Field Generator
A fleet member in a recon, stealthbomber or cov ops frig alongside the Black ops BS.
How-to With everyone in fleet, create a cyno, then the black ops pilot right clicks the cyno-member in fleet and selects "bridge to". (not avail unless theres a cyno up etc.).
The person(s) that need moving, right lick the Black ops ship, and "Jumps to" the cyno destination.

I'm 95% certain that it's the race of the black ops ship that decides isotope type. I can't be 100% until I'm tested it myself, and I couldn't find anybody tonight to help me.

Here's a tasty morsel, if you haven't had the chance to try it yet: Capital ships cannot jump to Covert Cynosural Fields. Covert ships CAN jump to Non-covert cynosural fields (as well as bridge to them).
That opens up some, er, interesting strategies, yes?

so as per the "guide" 3 posts up, the covert cyno field isn't necessary? The only real bonus of the covert cyno field is that it can't be detected? _______________
