I promised to think and come up with some ideas. These aren't or haven't been completely fleshed out. The yare just rough ideas.
I would like to see the Titan become a mobile construction platform. I can imagine after a fight going over to the Titan pilot and him building me a Frigate. This should also come with the same disadvantages as a siege module. Giving the ability to the titan to construct ships but making it vulnerable at the same time. The titans role should be a huge support platform to resupply and help the fleet.
You could also change the doomsday in to a Warp Disrupt affect. This would mean you would be unable to warp off the field for any given time. This would alos make it that people would have to fight on the battlefield. You could stop that affect by destroying the titans/damaging the "warp disrupt" module. It would also affect the WHOLE field. Friendlies would come back to the titan enter the shields to repair while the hostiles get hosed.
It should be required to stay on the battlefield giving an advantage over staying within pos shields.
I also feel that titans could be used as flagships, where they have an area of affect armor/shield repair affect with shields around them. This would obviously make the titan a sitting duck but in the middle of a raging fleet fight that scene initself would be amazing. Interceptors flying in to the shields ot rep up and back out. It would actually be quite amazing.
Another idea could be that once the titan deploys the doomsday you are unable to warp from the battlefield but you have X amount of time to disable its doomsday module to prevent the giant explosion giving everyone a fair chance. If the enemy can't do it in time they all die.
The support ships could do strafing runs on the titans "repair service" to disable it.
Please be gentle.

My take on the mobile construction platform is... well, no. The titan kind of concentrates on being a weapon of mass destruction. A MBC would be a completely different ship class altogether. At least that's how I look at it.

Maybe allow the players to decide which role the Titan should have by putting a Titan Configuration rig on it?

When I first learned about Titans, what I envisioned from the description did not match what was finally produced. The ship really is a letdown and I think it's more a matter of game mechanics unable to support the full potential of such a vessel.
The Titan could act as a mobile POS with some station/outpost abilities. As a mobile POS it would have many of the traits of a POS: It would have a visible shield bubble inside which friendly ships could escape enemy ships. It would have ship maintenance arrays, corporate hangers and even limited production facilities. It would also be able to deploy it's own array of sentry guns that could be independently operated by alliance members just as POS guns can be operated (and require the same skills.)
Under normal conditions the Titan moves about as it currently does. Ships can dock/undock, conduct repairs and even swap out fittings from corporate hangers. It is in this mode that the ship can fire the DD.
To employ the shield bubble, guns, and initiate ammo/module/ship production the Titan enters into siege mode. It consumes massive quantities of Strontium to do so. The arrays of sentry guns are deployed (by the pilot) and alliance member inside the shields can operate them. In siege mode the Titan has much higher resists than normal, regenerates at a quicker pace, gang warfare links have increased effectiveness, etc. It has become, in essence, a POS for all intents and purposes. It cannot, however, go into reinforced mode. To jump the ship out, it must end it's siege mode, pull it all the sentries and jump out to a cyno. It is during this time it is most vulnerable.
Where game mechanics fail the titan (and carriers and motherships) is that although these vessels can carry other ships inside the hull, it can't carry pilots in those ships inside the hull. A fleet should be able to dock inside a Titan, and that Titan then cyno to a system and the pilots inside undock to launch their attack. A Carrier, for example just to give rough numbers, can carry 5 battleship, 10 cruisers and 20 frigates in it's internal hanger. A mothership could carry, say, twice that. A titan could carry 10x that of a mothership and jump all those ship and their pilots into a system.
Currently game mechanics don't allow that..and it really should. The ability to actually move a fleet of ships with their pilots inside would really open up a whole new dimension to fleet warfare.

naa, too compicated.
All that Titans need is to be able to use Siege Mods. . .that woud make their highs a lot more useful. Titan = very large dread. ----
