I gripe more than your average pilot, but I must say they seem to have dealt with a number of them in this patch - the little functional things. Grendelsbane is pleased.

This annoys the hell out of me.
I don't really care that they nerf armour and shields, but this BULL**** about "not a single nerf". I hate liars like that. I like the game, but I don't like the idea that my subscription pays the wages of people who lie like politicians. Scum, in my opinion. Whilst it might seem like a minor issue, it's the principle that they can feed us a line of **** and we swallow it, and pay them in the process. Nerf shields and armour, but don't then lie and say "not a single nerf".
That's a politicians trick and the people who do it are scum.

Take a ******* chillpill DogSlime or you'll have a heartattack.
OP: You have to put the change into context. You can boost damage by nerfing tank. You can nerf damage by boosting tank. Relatively speaking. If they would've boosted EM and EXP damage instead then that would be an indirect nerf to tank aswell.

Yeah, screw it. Who cares really? I just got angry because I see all this from politicians on the TV, and these "no nerf" claims seem to be the same crap. Overall, it's no big deal as you and others so correctly observe.

Technically the idea behind all the changes is to buff one thing or another, of course in buffing any one thing you nerf another.
It's the idea that counts, they didn't nerf polycarbs, they didn't nerf non-stacking rigs, they didn't nerf snakes, they could have, many would have applauded such changes, but the spirit of trinity 1.1 is that of improving the lot of some decidedly under-par ships.
Is it spot on? No balance never is it's an art not a science. Will everyone be happy? No, you can't make everyone happy. Is it a boost patch? Yes, I'd say it is, nothing in there is done to nerf anything.
If a politician claims they are improving public services funding this year (a buff) and moves a huge chunk of money into services but also decides to reduce funding to some services to improve others you cannot really say that the years budget saw a decrease to services funding (a nerf).
It's all semantics, I'm sure if CCP were like the politicians they'd have made no such claim, in fact they'd probably not tell us much of anything for fear of criticism. I'd rather not see the company take such a direction, but if the community is going to whine about almost everything they say we'll force the lines of communication to tighten to a trickle and ruin the relationship between the players and the devs even more than the last year or so has managed.

Fair enough, but we pay for the service they provide. People who pay for a service have every right to sound-off about the things they don't like. It comes with the territory. If eve were free, I imagine people would still whine, and in that case it would be quite unfair, but it isn't free. It's a service paid for by its users and if I am paying for something, and there's something I don't like about it, then I'm gonna complain.

To me, nerf implies that something is made useless, kinda like a Nerf bat in real combat. Armor is far from useless.

I believe CCP put the word 'nerf' in quotes like they did to relate to the traditional, historical definitions the word has been used as in the past regarding reducing the effectiveness of certain parts of the game, i.e. laser nerfing, torpedo nerfing, ew nerfing. This means a module that had skillpoints invested behind it and it's functionality was proportionate to a pilot's skills was made less effective.
most noteably: Nosferatu nerfing.
By stating this pastch does not nerf per-se, it was to imply that no ships or weapons were recieving changes to their functionality. Now, a resistance change be it more or less in any category could be considered a 'nerf' if you were just to take an absolute stance and say it is less than it was therefore it is a nerf and ccp needs to go to hell.
In this instance this would be incorrect, and the person describing the scenario as such to be found lacking in moderation. This did not need 6 seperate threads to flame CCP about, for example.
Consider a 'nerf' a major gameplay change that enables a player greater combat ability over another with a direct reduction of another person's abilities. In this instance that example does not apply due to a reduction in a resistance easily being adjusted for. --
