It is very annoying, unchangeable, unremoveable, unmoveable, and taking the key, left position on the overview tab, it has to go or made modifyable just like any other overview tab IMHO.

I'd like to be able to assign something to it as well, you sort of can in a backwards sort of way.
Set up an overview the way you like it. Use the old right click triangle method to apply the setup to default. Then dock, log off and now logon. Undock.
Now your default will have the settings you applied to it. Every time you dock and undock, it will apply the setting ou assigned.
The dock/logoff/logon seems to be key here. The behavior overall means default isn't as friendly as one might assume default should be.

No. It do exactly what a default setting should do: it is unchangeable and uremovable.
The function of a default setting is to be there to return to a basic setting if needed.

I don't have to go, but at least you should be able to prioritize its position so that it's not always the first tab, for all of us who read from left to right.

I guess using more than one tab will result in a heavy impact on ui performance and I still do not see any use of this feature. Remove it or make it removable in general settings!

If you want a default option, there should just be a 'reset to defaults' button in the overview settings. If you then wanna save that as an overview setting called 'default', you can. If you dont want to, then dont.

i think it can be useful since it ALWAYS has ALL BRACKETS VISIBLE, and acts as a "temp tab" for overview filter settings, such as when configuring custom bracket filters or you just need to load an overview configuration temporarily. the other tabs can then be setup as "permanent" filters.

Take away the risk and it would make flying around in space utterly pointless.
Take away the flying around part and you make EVE into a space themed spreadsheet application. |

The overview has always had the options of "load default" and "load default - mining" appear below player defined presets when right-clicking on the triangle. This has always served the role of making the reset to the CCP-provided default settings very quick and painless when needed.
Having the first overview tab hardcoded to always use them and never go away falls under the heading of "highly annoying UI design". Primarily because the default is not especially useful for most situations once you start defining custom presets. For anyone who doesn't use the default overview on a routine basis, the only real use for this tab is "somewhere to load one of the highly situational presets I don't need 90% of the time" without screwing up any tabs dedicated to the two or three presets I use frequently.
All that said, default settings do have their place and should not be removed outright. Perhaps a tickbox to hid the uneditable default tab would be in order?
