Hello, im new to the EVE world since yesterday (Was chosen to beta test, but never had the chance cuz my computer crapped out at the last minute, lol) but so far, i am LOVING EVE.
Just to tell you, i have played non stop for 12 full hours on my first day (If that's not a direct addiction, i don't know what is!)
Now, im not into EVE for the fighting. I love just cruising along as fast as i can visiting new places and stations. Doing missions was fine, but i liked missions which took you places real far away.
Now, the main thing about EVE, imho, is the sheer size of the game universe. (So many places, so little time! ) But new players are pretty mucuh restricted to security zone 0.8 and above for fear of being blown to peices. That's a given considering the small size of their ship and their low offensive capabilities, but small ship have speed, something the big "bullies" don't have.
So here's my proposal: A race, with a big prize, for the fastest ship, from point A to B. Seems simple? Well im still new to Eve, but i got enough info already to tell me it wont be a peice of cake even for veterans.
You are free to take any routes want to reach your destination. The most direct route may not be the safest, since were talking about 30, maybe more stargate jumps.
Autopilot is out of the question for some regions of space which have lower security status. Even if you have the fastest ship, pirates and PVPs can be lerking and there will be no checking of the areas before the race.
A brand new character MUST be made prior to the race to give everyone an equal chance. The race won't be tomorrow,so you'll have plenty of time to skill-up and get a fast ship.
The Starting line (or system) will be choosen soon, while the finish line will be knowned only at the last minute for obvious security reasons (pirates and merc spreading the words and camping stargates, awaiting for a prey, but the finish line and starting line will most likely be located in a 1.0 security zone. The rest of the way is up to you.
This is not only a skill race, but an endurance race. The race can and WILL take hours to complete. Again, in some places, auto-pilot will spell your doom.
Thoughs? Suggestion? Recipes for homemade chicken w/ spam? ----------------------------------- My IBIS is knowed as "The ultimate power in the universe".
