Hi, I have a AMD 64 clocked at 2500 (real freq), 1.5 Gb RAM (with nice timings.. not the best but good) and a PCIe ATI x1600 pro. Eve ran great untill the trinity graphics upgrade. For the premium content i had to tone down some of the settings and i still don't get very good FPS.
It is enough for missions and running around but not for PvP where i wand all the FPS i can get (for this i keep the classic version around).
I would like to buy one of these 8800 boards (the one with 512 MB seems the best buy from my point of view). The question is will this suffice to give me PvPable( ) FPS?

It'll definitely improve your framerates, but the rest of your system seems to be lacking somewhat anyway. Personally I'd just run in Classic and save for an entire new computer anyway.

Well i remeber i read/heard some time ago (a long time ago :D) that eve will become less CPU dependant and more GPU dependant.
I really don't want to upgrade my entire machine as in general i am fairly happy with it's performance (i don't really play many games...a bit of CS and some TOCA which run great).
I may buy a new CPU some AMD X2 but that and the graphics card is kind off the limit... Will this be enough?

Yeah Trinity is more GPU dependant, but the GPU can be limited by other parts in your system. If you buy say an 8800GT now it will improve performance for sure, but that doesn't mean you'll be getting the max out of it.
Basically you can go for it but my personal choice would be to use classic and wait till I had more money. But my personal choice doesn't always suit everyone (even though it should ¼_¼)

:) Yeah i know i won't begetting the most out of that 8800 but it might just be enough to be able to pvp with the premium content enabled.
On the other hand if it isn't it would have been a bad investment as i don't play other GPU intensive games, nor will i be able to as my CPU will limit me.
Maybe someone that has a similar setup to mine (CPU+RAM) but with a better graphics card can give a comment.
Thnx.

Hmm, actually I used to have a computer that was similar to yours, though it had 2GB of RAM. I gave it to my brother and put in an X1800Pro, which was nice and cheap, and he runs EVE on Premium fine as far as I know. It won't play everything on max settings with full AA with decent framerates like my new computer, but it plays it. He also PvPs heavily.
