Quality control (the game needs to work well) and financial sustainability/profitability (the game has to be there to in order to play it) are important. I think a goal of 50000 happy players regularly on would be a good goal for CCP.

Ever heard of Customer Loyality, CCP's got it, even if the product has a few hic-cups when they roll out a client patch to 200,000 users with a server code change and then having to relink it to the database on a cluster that really needs to be a supercomputer we know they will happen, we live in the real world, we know its difficult as where do you test something on such a scale considering eve is unique. If the problem wasn't with the patch, but was actually with teh database, why did they just now notice it?
