I want to try this somewhere in an undisclosed 0.0 system but my question is: How do I know when I fly downwards? Do I fly downwards when I fly into the opposite direction of what I consider upwards? Do I fly downwards when I start flying on a course that is below my ship's floor? Please help, I'm lost in space.

The concept of "down" is established by the existence of gravity, and as there is no gravity in space thus there is no down.

"Down" does sound strange in space, but use the camera to figure it out.
Because we humans are designed to look at panoramas, 3D space it wierd for our brains to handle, so the camera in the game is unable to go past the "top" and "bottom" without spinning around the invisible axis that makes out brains feel normal again ^_^
But yeah, use the camera :) ---------------------------------------------- Minmatar suck? Shoulda done my research -_-

Sometimes they play fussball near the servers. Then the hampsters start running slower to watch the game. That's called lag.
Sometimes they play bowling with the servers. And when there are multiple crashes you know they bowled a strike.
And when the put all servers upside down for lulz and giggles the upside becomes downside. |

In reality this is probably correct, however in a video game, "up" and "down" are clearly defined by the orientation of the major axis. I expect that all stations are pointing "up", as if your view point (the up vector is always in that same direction). Your ship of course can point in all kinds of directions. The choice of axis is arbitrary however, but at some point you have to choose one in order to render the scene.

Eve space is basically 2D. There are some stations & gates that are up or down, but 99% of all celestial bodies are on a single plane. If you can't figure out which way is up or down while playing this game you should probably just quit now.

No its not even close to correct. Think about it for awhile. No gravity in space?

Or isn't up where my head is? Is there any info about the exact position of the pod in the ship?

Khatred, man, its called ISK poisoning, you loose all sense of direction when you have over 60 Billion ISK in you system. Best way to fix it is to send me about 10 Bill ISK, you will start feeling right as rain in no time man. http://jinxbarker.blogspot.com/ Please visit your user settings to re-enable images.[/url] |

I've always wondered why is vertical rotation limited to 180 degrees ?? It kills that space feeling a lot (imo)

If that were true, space would be flat, which it isn't.

Actually it has to do with how a 3D scene has to be rendered, but yeah use the camera (well you can get around this but such things are usually reserved for flight-sims where it matters). Alternatively, stop your ship and watch it 'level off' with a clear up/down orientation. _________________ [IMAGE REMOVED] -- aka Cpt Bogus -- Is that my torped sig cloaking your base?
