Hello, this is my first post on the forums so let me know if i do anything wrong.
Ok so there are two modules i was looking to invest in and they both look identical
Tobias' modified x-large shield booster Gist x-type x-large shield booster
Are these modules identical? Is there a big difference in cost? |

For people who like ot shiney up their ships, it litteraly will save you money knowing all the equivilants, and searching each one for the best prices.
The compare button at the bottom of the variatiobs tab will assist you in this and now you can even right click and view contracts.

It is the same with the Federation Navy guns and the Shadow Serpentis ones - a set of Shadow Serpentis guns can cost a lot less than the Fed Navy ones but are identical in every way that matters. |

Every officer item I've seen that has deadspace variants (except the Estemel's invuln) has a matching deadspace that is, most of the time, cheaper.
Also with officer gear you increase the odds of getting ganked (assuming its not a PvP buffer fit) because "Hey! Its purple!" |

With a lot of mods, rarity determines price more so than combat value.
Generally Officer mods are overpriced because of this. |

It's the same for a lot of modules, TE's, MFS, Gyros, Webs, Disruptors, Scrams, Neuts etc.
In fact if you factorise the time spent training and the advantages of using T2 stuff the argument of availability just became null these days, witch was one of the arguments for pricing faction items.
While I agree faction Items should offer real advantages, those should stay at fittings level and not in general performances.
Because:
Training all T2 missile skills are a pain in the arse
Training all the gunnery skills +T2 spec takes over a year if you add each race gun type and size
Tank skills are a real pain for every player
So T2 stuff should offer +++++++dps ++++++rep amount +++++++rof/range/whatever at higher fittings cost
And faction stuff less than all the above but with easy fittings and not specialisations required.
It's about time to do something about this and either bring us T3 items that have both fitting and dmg/tank advantages witch is the advantage for training that much, or to nerf faction stuff easily won with ammo. (hello incursion lp's) |

I have no idea what dhb exactly means, but the gist of what he is saying is:
Quote:If you want to dispand an enemy gatecamp, please do so in officer fit ships... cause their performance boosts will certainly make you almost invincible... and good tears will be had.... |

This is a reference to DHB Wildcat, look up his videos, he used to bust gatecamps in officer fit Nightmare and other faction ships. He used to do it 'solo', ie with his Falcon alt, was some pretty impressive fights. Afaik he sold the char though. |
