I had an idea that might help with several different problems that seem to be plaguing the players of Eve.
Hanger Modules. Every player hanger would have 3-5 of these slots to hold equipment that could be used in the hanger. Perhaps the default would be 1 or 2, and the player could pay for an upgrade hanger with more slots. Rented corporate offices might have more default slots, but cost more and maybe even use a different class of module than player hangers.
Modules available for these slots could include:
Repair modules to allow you to repair your own ship without having to exit the station and might be for structure, armor, and perhaps even components, broken down by broad categories (Weapons, Engines, Electronics, Etc.) Tese might also require a special skill, or consume some minerals for raw materials.
Refining Modules to allow refining in the outer areas where you have a station, but not a reprocessing plant. Perhaps separate ones for refining and recycling. These would probably have to be very slow to refine to avoid a whole corporation to strip a system clean with what should amount to just a consumer grade Refine - O - Matic. Perhaps these would need their own skill, or would be less efficient instead of slower that the station slots
Factory Modules to allow persons to manufacture small items (such as ammo) such a module would probably be limited by tech level, as well as size of what they could produce. A basis model could only produce tech 1 goods, and nothing larger than, say 1m3. Other more expensive modules would be able to produce larger and/or more advanced goods. This would allow the people who make their own ammo and missiles to do so, and not have to search forever for a free factory slot at a station. These also might require a special skill, or have more waste than station slots
Lab Modules are a little iffy, but might be made workable.
There are other possibilities, depending on the capabilities of Eve as it evolves like ship painting modules, modules that couds automate manufacturing tasks(module monitors sales floor and notices stock is out on FoF missiles, sends commands to the factory and, produces them, then places them on a sell order). I am sure others could come up with many other possibilities.
