I've made a quite long tread at Eve-I about thit issue. And I wanted a general response about this idea. And maybe influense ccp on this. Well.. I'm not hoping to hard on the last one there.
And I'm sure this have been discussed to death allready. But here goes...
Url: http://www.eve-i.com/forum/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=change&Number=40906&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=2&vc=1
Well. This is a bit hypothetical.
I whould like to see the lv3 BS. You don't have to make is much better than the lv2 bs to make it worth the wile to get one. Some cap increse and powergrid. A lot or two more.. I whould kill for an extra mid slot on the megathron. So the market is there, not proclaiming myself as the hard core of the market. I just think that I'm a normal player.
So you can have the lv3 battleship whitout making it as good as an eventual Titan. And atleast me whould very much like to see one ingame or two. But keep them a bit down. And maybe restricted to the race only. So you can't fly what ever out there. I'm sure this isn't comming across as a good idea to some of you out there.
Now.. On the Titan's:
I can't see any point of it having ANY turret slots or missile slots. Why should it? That whould seriusly change the game play. And ccp whould make matters worse if they did. Becus a few strong corpations whould be as privlage to ever get one. And having a flying death star out there whouldn't play well when a pirate corp desided to fly it in to Lum or Yulai, etc. And the very notion that a pirate corp whould get they're hands on one is to me absurd. It's like al quida getting a carrier these days... They shouldn't have the economical back bone to handle one. Secondly.. I like the notion that anyone in essence should be able to aquire one. I think that is important. But I don't think effectivly everyone should be able to get one. Like the battleships is now. That goes for the lv3 bs also.. If ever made. The famous SOON comes to mind.
If I whould make something like the Titan, I whould ristrict them to nation friendly only. Or tie that corp up to an empire and thus give the corp privilages in making the Titan... And then only one. And a nation whould only have two/three such corps on they're list at any time. To function very much like the ceo member update does in the corp window. In other and simpler words: You give the corp option to be part of a nation. (whit sertain standing restrictions) (+5 whould be a good base, corp standing..... not player standing) Well.. Thats how I whould do it. In the grand sceme it doesn't mean anything I whould guess.

Makes sense... however titans won't be in the game for a while.
I roleplay... there is this computer game called "Earth - The First Genesis" where i play a character in the early 21st century. |

Its really a waste of time speculating on something that won't be here for another year or so. I'm sure CCP will make them cool and awesome but not overpowering. ___________________________________________

LVL3 Bship is the same as a LVL3 Frigate..
LVL3 Frigate = Elite Frigates
LVL3 Bship would be an Elite Bship, for instance, the Phoenix.. :)

Well... I don't think the elite frigs whould compere as lv3 bs.. But more as a new development on the frig system. After all it's a new breed of ships. Like the convert ops frigs are a new breed.
I'm talking lv3 bs.. not elite bs..

Edited by: Muthsera on 11/04/2004 05:52:50 Edited by: Muthsera on 11/04/2004 05:52:02 And oh.. Try to stay somewhat open about this. I have no reason to belive it's going to show up anytime SOON... Or be taken into the game at all. It's just me expressing my view.
If you don't want to partisipate in this and think it's a bad topic. I suddest you just don't post.. No point being negative becus you don't think the same as others do. So try to stay open and tollerant of other ppl.. Not all start out as an expert. And I guess non of you did either. No offence though. SoonÖ

Elite Frigs are lvl 5, not 3...

titans must have turrets missilelauncher
1 as a mobile base it must have the possiblity to defend itself
2 it is said to be able to turn the side in major battles
3 as the cost in mineral alone is to be mesure of that of small moons and hoping that ccp show some sign of intelligence (miracle happens) the production cost should be in billions of isk in worth =major investment
4 titans is to be considered a ultimate battleforce not a glorified indy

Have you ever thought that it can change the tide of battles and is considered an ultimate battleforce, not because it has many turret/missile slots but because of its ability to transport fleets of ships and drones directly into the battle?

CCP has said that it will release titans once one of the corporations (or players, can't remember which) reaches a certain skill point level and can actually afford to build one. This hasn't happened yet, so no titans.

Actually Titans are supposed to be overpowering. The cost billions/trillions (who knows) of isk and as such need to have a return on there power/isk ratio. Think about this logically...would the 5 races really build titans and not give them turret slots?
NO

Only thing i gotta say about that is i hate the idea of anything being limited to just one race. Why? The reason i love this game is im not bound by how i made my char almost a year ago as to what skills i learned thats one thing that really ****ed me off about enb if they started adding in only this race can use this race junk i would have to say good buy and secondly they seem to go on a nerf cycle at ccp and pretty much every other game if you are limited to 1 certain thing well when it hits the nerf bat you are royaly screwed until they come over it again and bring it back up to snuff.

To me it sounds like the worst excuse i ever heard...
I would assume that CCP has not implemented Titans simply because they are not bugfree and completely working yet..
Also there are many hint and clues that Titans will be much much more then just 'the bigger ship'. There has been talk that Titans will be needed to build spacestations (the real thing, not the Shiva ones). Imho Titans and all that revolves around them is a looong loooooooong ways away and the only reason for that is that CCP hasn't had the time to debug and balance all of that content...
That is also the reason why we are waiting on Shiva isnt it?
I highly doubt that the mobile bases in Shiva will be an unreachable goal for the present day super rich corporations...
Furthermore i have the feeling that whoever gets to fly a Titan, will spend most of his time in asteroid belts providing a mobile drop-off point for miners and mining the sh1t of of belts with 8 mininglasers...
Their combat abilities will most likely NOT be used untill Titans become more common and not something solly for the superrich.
Imagen what would happen if a Titan would show up in a large battle?!
It would instantly be the target of every enemie ship in that battle. Not because its such a fierce opponents but simply because killing it would be the hugest kick in the nuts you can give your opponent and from what i have seen about the stats of a Titan...they can take beatings but they are FAR from being as super invincible as many make them out to be. Looking at what the stats we have about Titans say, they would easily be killed by a hunting pack of bships.
And lvl 3 battleships well...one wonders why there is a bship skill lvl 3-4-5. I assume CCP has something planned for that in the distant or not so distant future so i think youl see that wish come true yet. Also i still very much wonder why oh why industrial freighters have such huge cpu values...probably another distant future feature!
Originally by: cashman It's time for Eris to get a clue. CCP should make a statement about this.
It's the exact same things as what Zombie did, you may not attack in "safe-areas" (empire/within sentry range) without loosing your ship.
