What do people think? Looks like there are a lot of unresolved problems with this patch that are making the game unplayable for many of us. Is it time for CCP to remove the patch and send it back to the test server?

That would be my preference. I haven't been able to log into the game since the patch was deployed - not sure how many people are impacted this bad, but judging from the other posts on the forum there seem to be a lot of stability issues. Judging from the slow response by the customer support team, they seem to be overwhelmed and have no clear idea what is causing the problems.

The problem is that it's the people who have problems that post. There are far more people that don't have problems than those that do.
Personally I haven't had a single problem with any patch that has been released that has made EVE unplayable, even the boot.ini deletion issue wasn't a problem because the bios on my PC doesn't require the file to be present. It just threw up a warning that it couldn't be found and carried on booting up. After all the boot.ini file is a throw back to MSDOS days and unless you have a dual boot machine it serves no useful purpose whatsoever.

Edited by: Shawanda Jackson on 16/03/2008 22:52:05 /signed - definitely a time for a roll back and for SOMEONES head in the Q&A department to roll if there actually IS a Q&A or Testing department.
How did this horrible horrible mess of a patch ever make it out to production? I mean you should have KNOWN something was going to go horribly wrong when the patch itself started blowing up the servers on patch day.

To the op and devs,
The op is correct at this point. The client is borked. After uploading the new patch, I've noticed that my 8800 gts overheats while sitting in station with station environments turned off. If I had to guess, hdr and bloom have been enabled by default with no recourse from the enduser. Also, some of the video settings cannot be saved or are missing.
FPS is an issue that can't be easily explained and many factors can contribute to low or unsustainable fps on most systems that meet or exceed minimal system requirements for EVE. However, I've noticed lower fps on my "highend" system after the patch deployment.
Alt-tab / windows buttons are not working as intended. I use the Window's key to minimize the game which works but the reverse doesn't. I can get back in by hitting the "esc" key but that is 50/50 chance atm. I either end up exiting the game or back into the game settings menu.
A patch "roll back" is needed in this case and further testing should be conducted to resolve issues that are affecting the enduser's client. QA is most important with a paying client base.
Cheers,
SS

Your 88000 is overheating too? Mine starts to get real hot and strange black blocks start showing up all over my screen.
Now the problem is happening within windows and had not happened before but once the patch came out it got real bad....
I hope my card is ok or I'm not going to be too happy with CCP......
As for the most part bugs are present and the constant need to fix my window positions is driving me nuts!
Please CPP take the time to figure out whats going on! Hire more hamsters if you have to!
