I can't connect - what solutions can I use to fix this problem?
For instance, I know how to do a trace route (as per the instructions given on this website) but could someone tell me what useful information it could give me?
How do I work out whether my inability to connect is due to Eve, a firewall, my ISP or something else?
I hope someone can help.
Thanks,
Ekvar

I've found out that it is a firewall problem, as it worked when turning the firewall off.
How can I fix the problem? What are the port addresses etc. for inputting into the firewall?
Thanks,

I managed get it working through the port information from the eve website:
If you are connecting from behind a corporate or personal firewall, you will need to enter the server's IP address into your firewall configuration, which is 87.237.38.200 port 26000 when using TCP/IP.

However, only by keeping the port open not keeping it only open to CCP's server. Can anyone give any advice on how to set it up so it's only open to them as it should be?
Thanks,

You would need something like:
"Allow from <source IP> to <eve IP> port 2600 tcp"
How your firewall will allow you to do this is a different matter.. Some have a graphic interface, some text etc etc.

It's called port forwarding. In some cases, if you go to 192.168.0.1 in your browser you get to your local router. If there is a "Port Forwarding" tab, great. Go to that tab and set it up to forward port 26000 to your local IP. Finding your local IP can be a chore if youÆre not computer knowledgeable. But, a simple search in Google can give you information on finding your local IP and setting it to be static.
You have no idea what you're talking about. "Port Forwarding" is for when YOU are running the server. You're not, CCP is.
The posts above about firewalls are correct.

Port 26000 is the 'quake' port - keeping it open should be fine.,,.

Have a look at the link in my sig; it describes how to tunnel through a firewall to allow Eve to connect.
Hope that helps. |
