Hers a quikc question about stirpi mining. Once you strip a belt of all the good stuff, say omber, the belt grows back with less omber in it then it started with right? Well what happens if you went a head and stripped all the veld or plag or scor out of a lower sec system? Could you then expect more and more of the good ore to respawn? And if you wanted to maintain the ore "levels" of a belt could you equip a suvey scanner and just mine the better ore untill there's a couple hundred units left in each?
Thanks PS sorry about the typing , i'm on a lap top with the worlds smalest keyboard typing with big fat fingers.

As I understand it, yes, theoretically. I tried that very thing yesterday in fact, mining each nugget of Omber to within an inch of its life. When I returned a few hours later, however, a big fat cruiser had stripped every last one from the belt .

I've seen no proof that completely removing all asteroids causes more or less of a certain type to re-spawn. I think either each belts get's X number of each type that can spawn in that belt. Or it rolls a die on what type each rock will be, given enough time the randomness would average out into X number of each type of asteroid.
When you mine out a asteroid it takes about 73 hours to respawn. When it does, it will only have a few K ore inside of each, and each maintenance cycle it goes untouched it gains a few K more of ore.
I believe this is why people say it's best to leave a little ore in them rather than mine them out. You won't have the 3 day wait before they start getting bigger again.

i believe if u mine them to as little as possible then leave it alone it will produce more the next day. but if u pop a riod it takes longer for it to grow. as for strip mining i always just to a riod a day, as mine only vel one day then the next scord, then whatever that way if u have good belt and no one mines it to hell then u have a good supply of ore.
