Ok i have been wondering why CCP wont get rid of the macro miners they are becoming a pain in the *** emptying all the asteroid fields within a couple days and they are also ruining the market for the genuine players.
I have a solution for this stupid problem that exists and to get rid of the cheats and the isk sellers in this game once and for all.
The solution is CCP just remove the option to show asteroids in the overview no on uses this option anyway we use survey scanners instead get rid of the option of asteroids showing in the overview and this problem will be solved.
How easy its that easy it gets me thinking ccp do you want these macro miners in this game?

Go mine in an area without macros. Or mine lowsec/0.0. I'm sure there's a lot less of a macro problem if you actually mine somewhere other than 1.0 space. ------------

cheaper ships for everyone, I'm happy.
I also think most farmers doing mining isn't full time afk, think they are semi macro, one person lots of accounts, giving each account just enough attention.
Changing overview wont help I think.

No way thats not the point, the point is there is cheats & isk sellers in this game if this was solved corp/alliance wars will be more interesting as they wont be able to go by the damn isk which means it will turn into an economy war etc.
If this problem was solved more people would join the game as they will be able to make isk selling stuff a lot quicker and more easy, they will stay with the game due to this.
There is a solution to these problems, the solution is so simple i am begging to think this game is corrupt. I am sure CCP has thought of this idea but why havn't they fixed this then?

Not really, I think they are just as big a problem to CCP, as people wanting to enjoy this game while competing with genuine players. Although isk farmers are buying GTC's with isk, I suppose you could say they are paying CCP indirectly because someone bought the GTC.
However, CCP also gets their customer support plugged up with macroing/isk selling reports and having to deal with investigating those reports. Also, no-one likes recieving eve-mail from spammers and have local messages from them.
GM Guard wrote a good Blog on the subject, as to why CCP want to stamp them out. --- I've always wondered about those Vagabond pilots... |

If I'm reading this correctly (I'll give it 50-50 odds, I've been drinking), you just said that pvpers' collective skill is negated if they are unable to purchase isk?

If CCP loves farmers so much and they are so easy to get rid of, how can it then be a GM spend the better part of a week in Ingunn banning several hundred accounts?
And if its that easy to solve, how can it be Ingunn was back as farmer capital 1 week later?
Only way to solve this is to change the attitude with the people who actually buy the isk.

The solution is to ban all Asian IPs (okay that is a generalization but ban all the IPs coming from a country where ISK is worth more than their currency). There is no other way to get rid of macro mining than a straight up hardware measure. All the software can be bipassed.
(Does that solution sound like a bad solution? Well congratulations you are not a complete moron because it is a terrible solution, unfortunately it is the only way to make it work)

Now what's rather amusing to me is that this proposed "Solution" will have very little effect on the main Isk farmers of these days.
A few years ago isk farming by macro mining was all the rage. Nowadays this is no longer the case because of the huge amount of farmers that appear to have switched from Macro Mining to Sweatshop Hauling.
For those who have still not heard of this (I'd be very surprised if that were the case, where the heck have you been?) "Sweatshop Hauling" (I just made that up :P) is the act of having hundreds of little farmers using haulers to do level 4 courier missions of various types. Up until a few weeks ago, Ingunn Republic Fleet (or whatever the station is called, the minmatar one in Ingunn) was frequently overflowing with 70-110 people with names such as:
asddavvac seo1995 ingunnking
And so on. Keep in mind that Ingunn is lowsec... where else will you see over 100 people in lowsec at any one time? (Excluding Otou/Amamake etc which are actually throughfares)
I think the best thing players such as myself can do to deal with this problem is waste them. Sit on the stations/gates all day and make the haulers go splat. I splattered 286 of them in 6 hours a few months back, they even dropped some implants, I'm assuming their mission rewards.
If you annoy them enough, they'll get out their Mission Ravens and come back to try to gank you. Then there will actually be a fight... unless they've forgotten to fit scramblers o.O. True story, they came for my Astarte once with a whopping 6 torping ravens... and forgot to scramble me. Got out a few corpies and splattered 4 of them, the other two ran. Kinda fun of course.
Excuse my rambling, but what it comes down to is this:
This "solution" will not "solve" isk farmers. It will cause them to (*shock, horror*) adapt. Adapt being one of those wonderful words here in eve, as in "STFU, adapt or get out whiner" after someone's flavour of the month is nerfed. I've gotten to the point where I just train up the ship/item I want nerfed... CCP haven't failed me yet on that one :D. The moment I've trained a ship fully, NERFAGE!
Anyhow, this ramble was brought to you by boring monday morning! ---- Sig starts here --- "Anyone caught using this exploit will be punished accordingly, as this can easily be tracked and verified in our logs."
Pity they can't track or verify anything else. |

Edited by: kworld on 17/03/2008 11:24:13 Are some of you fu***** stupid? even if the macros were to do it the mission way it will STILL partly solve the problem as they wont be able to mine all the minerals to build everything and ruin the game, they will be just getting the isk direct.
Its not just the isk farmers its the corps as well, some corps have like 3-4 macros going on all day and some alliances do this to build there mother ships and titans etc, and when a war does come when they war deck you and you win the first fight by blowing everything up of theres they don't care as there macros will just replace there ship.
Removing the asteroids from the overview will solve this problem because if there was no astroids in the overview what will the macro lock on to?

I can guarantee, that removing the asteroids from the overview won't change a thing. If you look at it from a mining bot programming point of view it is not hard at all to make the courser search the screen for asteroids, or use some other way of targeting the roids. Nice try, but it won't help ;)

the solution is to report the players as you find them. Changes like what you have suggested kworld will make things harder for new players joining the game. Just petition. --

lol why wont it help? do you know how damn difficult it will be to make a macro that searches the screen it self for asteroids within 15 km ? it is actually impossible as the screen views and distances will constantly change. You obviously sound like a macro.

I know that it is more difficult, yes, but it is not impossible.. I know, that it is indeed possible to program a bot that can find stuff on the screen by color filtering/mouseover text, and i know that it is possible to make the bot read different info on the screen (FOR EXAMPLE how far away the roid is). yes. removing the roids from overview will make it harder for the macro miners, BUT it won't stop them.
and last. No, i am not a macro miner ( ), i am just being realistic.

you don't have a clue do you?
and aside from the obvious things like the fact that most of the isk farmers aren't using macro, but instead using sweetshop workers because it much much more cost effective to do so.
and they will for obvious reason not be affected much by your idea, the only ppl that will suffer from it are the realplayers. Sad but true

1: Alliance dont build there moms/titans off macros they do it off reprossesing all the mods droped by rats
2: this will only hurt real miners because macro programs will target roids and mine regardless of what they are or you just make it mandatory for miners to fit servay scaners, not that hard to write this step into a program. this relly hurt 0.0 miners looking for litte biscot in a planet of veld roids who need the mids for a tank on there hulk

Look here kw, you got a good heart, but you, like most of the younger generation, ASSUME that what you know is all there is to know.
Here it is: Where you go, and how you mine, this is probably true. But, in a universe far far away, where adults go to mine, you needs every damn slot for defense, and a scanner is a luxury that will get you killed.
You go put to XZH-X1 and mine some Arkanor in a hulk, and then tell me you do not need to have asteroids in the overview. Those belts are over 700 km across. A common technique to mine Arkanor, Bistrot you turn on asteroids, turn off the ones you do not want to mine and then warp to the ones you want. There is no better way. If you ever get to one of the -0.0 systems (the normal 0.0's do not have the rares, its the ones with negative security that even have any Arkanor!) see for yourself.
Anyway, I am not a macro or a troll, but you think you know everything but that is never going to be the case. Ask the experts, join a corp in deep space and get some first hand experience. Humility is the hallmark of honorable character. Aramis Rosicrux

Edited by: Azirapheal on 18/03/2008 04:49:19 you propose that you have a solution. then fail to provide one more than "if they got rid of"
the beauty of eve is that it is entirely in our power to sort it ourselves.
look at what jihadswarm is doing against miners in highsec - now imagine what would happen if a larger portion of the player base really went for the macro's
corps like the metafarmers and most evil pirates spend some time here and there smiting them - pop their wrecks and they cant take the mission to completion. standings losses etc.
Quote: There is a solution to these problems, the solution is so simple i am beginning to think this game is corrupt. I am sure CCP has thought of this idea but why havn't they fixed this then?
The only people who wil be against this wil be the macro's them selves
this solution is already being phased in with exploration, eventually there will be no static belts (hopefully)
that last sentence smells like some preteen commie witchunt crap. if you dont like the death penalty you must be a murderer ****e. and just for that, you are on my target list.
next time you write a thread like this, sodding actually give your own well thought out solution and stop being a knob.

dude the farmers tend to pay off the big fellas, not that im gona say who but a corp that was farming the kazna plex was harrased by us due to em farming it. we where offerd isk to leave em but refused. then a alliance (recently lost space in 0.0) attacked em and after a week stopped and then focused attacks beyond them to make a buffer (logical). suddenly the fellas had a nifty cap fleet and na mother to plant on our head, why haven we said this? we we and ex members of the alliance have. but ccp has the same flaw as cccp...the benefit of a byrocracy is the way it can ignore the needs of the individual
