OK...before people start calling me a noob...in my defense I was multitasking when I did the following....
heh.
So I ACCIDENTLY deleted a bm to a GSC i had deployed in a system. How do I find it? I found it on the directional scan but it doesn't give me a distance. And i tried some scan probes but those didn't seem to work either.
i filed a pettition hoping CCP may be able to help but not counting on it.
Any ideas?

There is a way, although it will take a lot of patience. If the GSC is in-between two astral bodies then you can use this method: 1) Warp to a spot between the two bodies 2) Use the directional scanner to find the direction of your GSC. 3) Warp in that direction and BM a spot before you get to the astral body 4) Repeat step 2 5) Continue to warp back and forth, creating bookmarks closer and closer to your GSC. Eventually you'll be within visual range and can BM the can and warp to it.
Good luck! -------------

Edited by: Tsanse Kinske on 17/03/2008 22:27:00 What Avalira said. Though it can be hard to get any closer than a few thousand km, so at that point you can always pinpoint it with your directional scanner and fly toward it with a fast ship until you get on the same grid.
Depending on where it is and how much trouble you want to go to, you might even be able to get to it if it's not between two celestials or bms.
If it's not too far off, you can scan for anomalies until you find one with a helpful bm. Failing that, if you can get missions in that system, they often have bms way off in the middle of nowhere
And a lot of people still have old bms dozens or hundreds of au off the celestial plane, and you might be able to beg or trade for those.
Probably not anywhere near worth the hassle, unless the can's got some good T2 BPOs in it or something. * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Edited by: syphurous on 17/03/2008 23:05:58 I find people like to leave shuttles and n00b ships next to their cans usualy, makes it easy to find them later. Of course there's the odd few who forget to password or anchor and I get free cans with stuff :)
Of course I BM the can and self destruct the ships to the cans I cant open. Then when the owner cant find them I can make profit from my BM :)

As a side note, this is an excellent reason to go to a station and store copies of key bookmarks.

Unless it is a new undocumented feature you can't bookmark from the directional scan.

What i used to do is go to your corp assets and find it there. afaik you can bookmark from there. If in a noob corp it won't work. And i think you need some privilidges in a player corp :)

I tried it last night and it at least gives you the option to bookmark. I have no idea what happens if you warp to it though. So at the moment you can, indeed, bookmark containers from the scanner.

You have completed the bookmark process?
To me it say "You can't bookmark this from where you are" after selecting the bookmark name and pressing enter.
