Other than the fact that they're all out in 0.0 space, is it essentially the same as running missions for empire corps? I assume that dong missions for them will completely and irrepairably ruin your standings with anyone in empire, but do the different pirate corps dislike each other or will you get a big thumbs-up from all of them? And what are their missions like, are they the same stuff as in empire but with different enemies, or do they have a completely separate set of missions?
Is it even practical for a solo player to head out to 0.0 and start a career working for the pirates, (do they even have NPC pirate stations you can use?) or does it require having the infrastructure in place of an alliance which is based out there?

Edited by: Lord WarATron on 18/03/2008 09:14:12 1. Grab a drake 2. Check your standings to find a pirate corp whos lvl1 agent you can use 3. Insure drake and get out there with a noobalt scout 4. Run upto lvl3's until you make freinds with the locals. Once your trust is enough, switch to a Raven and start on lvl4's.
It is fesable and very workable for a solo player to head into 0.0 and run missions for pirates. All Pirate agents are in npc stations that you can dock at. You WILL DIE and get ganked before you learn to get the hang of things. Remember to do a bit of research on the NPC region via forums or via a noobalt scout before you set off from empire. Last thing you want to do is set off to a warzone to run missions! --

The pirate agent works just like normal agents, except they give other missions, usually something illegal. You often get to kill CONCORD which is fun.
And the rewards are awesome. When I did missions in Stain I got over 13k LP for many missions, and all missions took place in the same system as the agent. I also had 3 level 4 quality 20 agents to choose from.
The LP/isk ratio is also much higher for pirate agents, since you can buy ships like Nightmare or implants like Slave Omega for 250-500k LP, meaning you get atleast 2k isk/LP, compared to the 500isk/LP you get in empire.
However, you will get ganked from time to time unless you get the local residents to set you to blue, which isnt very likely. They might let you join a corp in their alliance though.

Pretty much what Mangus Thermopyle says. Great name btw. Morn say's hi.
Missions are very simular, but bounties are replaced by tags in nearly every mission.
Get a drake.... if the area you are operating in is not your alliances space, then that is quite possibly the worst advice I've ever heard. Battle cruisers are gank magnets. Use your brains and realise there are other ships that can be used for missioning. I personally would NEVER use a drake 0.0 mission running. I can run any mission from the description faster in a ship specialised for that mission. 0.0 missions have to run at a speed a isk maximising empire player couldn't even comprehend. Think about blitzing missions. Eve survial if you use it doesn't have many of these missions.
0.0 I use 3 different ships with completely different setups depending on what I get. I use different racial ships depending on the mission. Why struggle shield tanking Amarr Navy when you can armour tank (higher em and thermal resists) them so much easier? Using an inty/frigate for level 2's will build up enough materials so you can build in situ a cruiser. Long range sniping cruisers are sometime the best way to remove a stasis tower or energy draining tower.
The tier 2 (not tech 2) frigate with the cargo bonus can usually do every courier out there - you might need to do a couple of trips thou. I'm sure people think I'm either mad or scanning for cosmic anomalies, but the Minmatar probe is an outstanding ship for this with cargo expanders.
As such yes you can run missions in hostile space. You have to really think, there's no semi-afk/drunk mindless drake running. It's eve on hard mode. You have to be completely self sufficent as the market is non-existant. bpc are a good idea, and so are bpo's if you happy too loose them. Be aware that your system can get locked down, and you will be unable to operate. I have a jump clone for when this happens.
As for standings - yes they do kinda mess up you Empire faction. Realise thou there are two main pirate grousp that don't get on.
Angels and Sepentis (thukker as well... but don't kinda count as they are more a low sec faction reward wise) are in bed together. Then the other group in Blood raiders, Sansha's and Guristas are the other faction.
The southern group (Angels and Sepentis) are more disliked by Gallente and Minmatar if memory serves, and the Northern group (Blood raiders, Sansha's and Guristas) are more disliked by Amarr/Caldari. I think maybe prehaps Sansha's maybe an exception to this - but check in game with who they like.
As such with a jump clone, you could empire mission run in a bc/battleship in Amarr space, and mission run hard style in Angel space. Sure it won't optimise faction - but it is do-able via the faction corps.
Ideally, have a friend or two you can work with fleet wise to maximise 0.0 mission running. See how effective a small fleet of t2 frigates (inties/assualts) are mission running in empire. Audita et altera pars |

Edited by: Reapeat Offender on 18/03/2008 20:19:32 If you are a member of a large alliance, find out where the best mission running space is where the locals will have you blue. Most large alliances/federations have at least a constellation or two of mission running space where the locals will be friendly to you and there is a concentration of good agents.
Trying to run missions in 0.0 as a neutral or hostile to the locals is an excercise in frustation. Although you can do it, it probably won't be much fun and all the ship losses and time spent idle because you can't undock due to hostiles in local will take away a lot of the extra profit that 0.0 mission running offers. And although you can sometimes find out of the way agents in 0.0 in sparsely populated systems where you can operate as a neutral to the locals, they tend to be poorer quality and don't pay as well as the better agents. There is normally a reason why a system that has agents has few or no other players in it.
If you are not a member of an alliance that has some mission running friendly 0.0 space, I'd recommend joining one. It will be the number one thing you can do to make the experience easier and more enjoyable.
