Does anyone know why is camera rotation on vertical axis locked at 180 degrees ?
Why not allow free rotation in any direction ?

Cus humans think in panoramic view, not total 3D.
It'd confuse the hell out of a lot of people...trust me, I'd be one of them. ----------------------------------------------

but why limit it to the map, if you want to look at the 3d map your limited to looking at it from top down, upside down (considering how it was before the zoomable map, and from the bottom.
Before a player could look at the map from every possible angle. I really miss being able to look at the map from the side with UP being the RIGHT side. before I used the 3D map a lot, right now I just get confused to hell and back by it. --------------------------------------------- Somewhere beyond happyness and sadness, I need to calculate what creates my own madness o/ |

Yeah i always though having a strange x axis for the camera based on absolutely nothing was a bit silly.

If you think thats bad, why the hell do the ships slow down when you reduce thrust? Does Newtons third law not apply in Eve ? You should have three vectors to manage: Thrust vector Facing vector Travel vector
Its a bit Jr High/Buck Rogers.

Because flipping your ship 180 degrees just to slow down would be silly and time consuming. Not to mention the fact that the spaceships fly like submarines... and the auxiliary thrusters need forward momentum to turn you unless a dead stop
But meh... it was brought up before on here and would be cool but nah... why mess with it when we have extended downtimes like this from a boost patch? ------------

When I want realistic space-flight physics I go and play Orbiter. It's challenging enough to navigate between planets without having to deal with combat (etc).
As for a freely rotating camera, I'd like to see the option, purely for aesthetics.
