Well FFS. I have every story Clarke ever published and a nigh few he didn't. He was right up there with Asimov with the incredibly diverse works of plausable fiction he penned. TBH I don't think modern sci-fi would be nearly as interesting as it has been over the years if it hadn't been for Clarke and Asimovs influance. --------------------- Q: WTF! Why?! With Clarke's passing the last of the great science fiction writers have left.
I would think it difficult for anyone to surmise his enormous legacy, and as I'm sure many of us are aware, his influence has impacted everyone here in one way or another.
Godspeed, Mr. Clarke, and thanks for all you have done. =)

A GREAT MAN. The very first Sci-fi novel I read was one of his works..
Quote: "I'm sometimes asked how I would like to be remembered. I've had a diverse career as a writer, underwater explorer, space promoter and science populariser," he said. "Of all these, I want to be remembered most as a writer -- one who entertained readers, and, hopefully, stretched their imagination as well."

Legend is a word that is easily comes to mind when you think of Sir Arthur C. Clarke. A man of vision who, like Asimov, altered everyones perception of the possibilities of space. He predicted man made communication satellittes, mobile phones and moon-landings in the early 50's (he stated man would land on the moon by 2000, he was wrong with his dates but right in his vision) and was rubbished for his thoughts. His perseverence shined through. Truely someone who will be missed.

Wrote my favourite sci-fi novel of all time in Rendevous with Rama. Shame he let Gentry Lee in on the follow ups, cause they were awful.
