I've been playing Eve for about 6 days. It has been very enjoyable. Was invited to a very nice mining corporation who helped and answered newbish questions for me all day. I amassed a few million ISK with the help of my corp-mates and am alsmost ready to get my 1st battlecruiser.
Low and behold, another corp has declared war on us! "What does that mean? What's going to happen?" Well, they can kill you ONSIGHT. That's right, for no apparent reason Unseen Chimera felt it necessary to wage war on us. One day I am peacefully mining away and the next I HAVE NOTHING! Everything is gone, thanks to Unseen.
What a GREAT game.
Yes, I've read all the forums about aggression and lo-sec etc. But I'm a miner; I don't PVP. I didn't pay for my account to get assaulted. Well, let me tell you, CCP may not be getting any more money from me. What a ridiculous setup, to allow another group to declare war on your group for no reason whatsoever. We've had people leave already and the war's been going for less than 24 hours! GREAT CONCEPT!!!
Well, enough ranting. CCP, you are losing paying customers. Fix the aggressive tactics of these stupid corps or continue to leak money through your fingers. Some of us would like to just relax and play without interference from others.

If you don't want interference from others, why did you leave your starter corp?
If you don't want wardecs, you can avoid them with legal game mechanics. You chose to leave the relative safety of the NPC corp, so you have only yourself to blame. End of story.

I'm not going to lie, the game would be boring as hell if all you did was the same mining over...and over...and over. I mainly mine, but I delve in PvP, Exploration, PvE, and many other things to keep myself occupied. Not too long ago, our corp got declared war on (not the first time, though) and a crapload of newbs who couldn't handle it just flat out left. They complained that they couldn't play the game. The whole aspect of the game is economics and player battle.
Money is easily made back. The most important thing is the skills. Also, little tip, DON'T GO MINING WHEN YOU'RE AT WAR. If you must, get a more experienced corpy to back you, and watch local.

I can understand a 6 day old player can get a shock from this, but it's the game mechanics and you did join a player corp, and I guess one of your corp did something to **** them off. Not many corp go around wardec'ing other corps just for the hell of it in high sec from my experience.

Ahh I love the way this game cuts the fat. Whenever i read one of these posts it makes me smile.
Just think how much better this game would be if all systems were 0.0. Would love to see CCP do this instead of snowball launchers during christmas, maybe people would realise there is so much more to this game when its unrestricted by Concord.
Imagine the reduction in server load if it did not have to manage Concord ships on gates in several thousand systems.

Actually, you do pay for this.
This is a FULL PVP game. You can be attacked and killed ANYWHERE, ANYTIME, and for ANY REASON.
THAT is the game you paid for.

Actually yeah, I think most (if not all) of ours were because of that. I think it was to get money. They tried ransoming us, and we lied and told them we were a mining corp (hehe). We didn't pay so they decd us and they lost more than what they would have earned. I think one of them was actually because the former CEO had a previous dispute. Anyway, it was still kind of a reason, but not much of one.

What you did: Invested all your resources into one ship and got blown up.
What you should have done: Bought tech I frigates and gone to WAR. A small number of frigates set up right on high sec trading routes etc will tear things to pieces.

I'm so sorry if I stepped on anybody's little di.. TOES while producing my rant. It wasn't meant to offend anyone, just to blow-off steam. Well, maybe offend the asshats who have Short Man Syndrome in real life so they have to exude testosterone in a game and anonymously on the forums.
Just one more comment. How fun is it to sit holed-up in a station while 4 to 5 mammoths lurk around outside? How can I PVP that? My skills aren't high enough to do anything about it. Woo hoo! Play low-grav Canasta with the dock foreman.
And you're right; maybe this isn't the game for me. But it sounded fun and WAS fun until this ludicrous "war" was declared. All I'm saying is CCP needs to look at non-PVP players and accomodate their desires, too.

It's harsh the first time it happens to you, that's true.
Well.. it can be harsh every time really but you get used to it.
Get back in there and start again, you can't have lost much if you're only a week old. Fly somewhere where the aggressive corp won't find you and setup there, you'll soon be on your feet again.
I think most people come to appreciate the fact that their things can and will be taken away if they aren't careful, for me it makes the game more intense.
All I'm saying is, don't give up just yet, try again with the experience you now have and see where it leads from there.
