The Eve-Compendium
Hello all, the following pdf is worth many hours of my work.
It was my goal to help out the eve community so I began compiling a compendium of knowledge about eve, mostly in the form of guides. I searched and collected what I felt were up to date guides and information on different topics in eve, converted them to pdf and organized them in what I hope is a friendly manner.
Mind you some guides may contain some information that is a tad out of date but nothing huge. If it's included it is because I thought it would be useful to someone here.
This if the first public release of the eve-compendium. I hope you all find it very useful.
I am offering this free of charge but donations are most welcome (I'm not ashamed to admit they would make me happy  )
The Eve-Compendium V1.5
any suggestions, tips, errors that you may have or found, please mail me in-game.
Likewise any guides that you have and think it should be included in the compendium simply mail me in-game.
I have done my best to receive permission from the various authors included in the guide. If your work is included in this guide and you wish that I remove it, simply mail me in-game and I will do so promptly.

An amazing effort there. Although I will echo Winterblink in that I think it would be nice to have a consistent style throughout the whole thing, though I do realise that it is a lot of extra work to do that.

I'm having some trouble with this. Not sure if it's my reader (FoxIt Reader) acting up, or if it's the PDF, but it's loading up... weird. It's hard to explain, even as a software engineer, but the best way I can put it is that the viewpane is defaulting to the top-left view, where the pages are miles away, very small, and there's an acre of space between each page. Let me get a screenshot up to try to show you what I mean.

This is outstanding work. 
I've just taken a short look at it and it seems useful for new and experienced players alike.
I hope the community appreciates the effort you went through in form of donations and constuctive suggestions.
Only criticism so far would be the fact that a few sentences sometimes continue on the next page which breaks the otherwise organized layout a bit.
I'm curious how long it did take you to put all this together though. That's a lot of text and info :3
The next big step would be to hyperlink certain keywords so people who read it and get interested in a certain topic can jump there in an instant.

Yeah, I had trouble figuring out a nice format for this, the original version was a printed to help me organize it but I stopped doing that around 200pages  . When I have a few hours IÆll try to uniform more of the pages in terms of backgrounds, boarders, ect. IÆll also add section title pages. ItÆs a lot of work and I wanted to get this out there, IÆll do it for the next update though.

IÆll try to clean it up abit more so the sentences donÆt jump pages. Might take me awhile considering the amount of pages though.
IÆve been working on it for around a month (The pdf version). The ôpaperö version was around a week before I realized it was getting too thick.

The guides are post-rev expect for a few references to agent offers, unless I missed something.
I wanted to keep this compendium up to date so I did my best to only include guides that were still up to date (eg, Post-rev). I have a few guides in the process of being updated if the people I asked to actually do it .

Wonderful work, very nice collection, with credits going to the creators of the original individual guides within as well.
I have downloaded many of them by themselves, but having them all in one place is great.
So I suggest this thread should be sticked as this compendium would no doubt serve as a boon to many a new player and veteran alike.

Very nice, however it would be nicer still if you set the permissions so it would be possible to copy from it. Sometimes its best to have the most crucial info in the ingame notepad.

Are the margins being too large causing any problems other then viewing? Let me know on here or in game about what issues it's causing. Along with the next update I'll release an "eve-compendium lite" for you with the oversized pages removed for your viewing pleasure. If you want a "lite" version of this current version give me a shout in game and I'll email you one. Sorry for any problems it's causing

I do have a question or suggestion though - tried to read it on my Pocket PC (to be able to read it anywhere at all times:) ) and the text doesnt wrap or reflow as Adobe for Pocket PC calls it, because it isn't tagged (I think it's the right term). Is there something that can be done about it? I realy would love to be able to have this guide with me everywhere I go, to pass the time and learn new things.

I think this has something to do with the oversized pages included in the compendium. I have had NO time lately between my fiance, my birthday, work, and spring. I'll get my lazy ass up and finish the next version of the compendium which will include a version with no oversized pages for simple viewing. Hopefully that should fix some of the problems people have been having.

On page 207 of the current (1.5) version, It talks about a tactic with drones where you pull in the drones when they start to take damage and redeploy them to "instantly repair their shields". I must have missed that part. Been using drones for about a month and a half now and I have never once seen my drones "instantly repair their shields" by pulling them into the drone bay and redeploying them.
Also on page 208 it explains how drones will attack things beyond the control range if it has begun if they have begun their aggressive attacks. This is also not true. While the drones will follow targets outside the control range, they will not attack anything until it enters the control range of your ship, even if it is on their agro list.
I'm assuming this guide was written back in january. And revisions since then have fixed those bugs. That being said, the rest of the drone guide seems pretty solid.

What a great collection of data. Although I haven't been able to read through everything, it seems that nothing is missing.
Is there really a need to include every mission guide from eve-geek.com? These are prone to be changed frequently.

Unlike most of the other posters here, I do not see a reason to commend the Compendium, nor its "creator". Mainly for two reasons.
First, we do not need the Kill Mission Survival Guide there, in its entirety. You can cut off close to 300 pages by removing it. Leave the page(s) that tell us the basics about missions, but the other stuff can just be replaced by a link to the current location of the Kill Mission Survival Guide.
Second, much of the info in the Compendium is either outdated or repeated several times, sometimes both. I both know that the "creator" cannot edit this information without altering the guides (which would annoy the people that created the guides to begin with) and that the "creator" is aware of the redundant information.
Personally, I think that people are better off downloading/bookmarking the individual guides that they may need, and ignoring the Compendium altogether. |

Is it so hard to just produce a set of links to all of the relevant guides? Wouldn't it be a heck of a lot more useful? Does it really need to be able to be offlined?
