Most of the people that do what you're trying to end don't read the forums, and i'd have to ask "Why should they?". As long as they make their isk they'll be happy.

Ah but 0.01 undercutting only works if you're selling from the same station as the other seller, most relevant example is Jita 4-4.
Consumers don't care about 0.01 less if it's 20 jumps away. Location, location is the key.

Since I'm lazy and don't want to read all the replies that are bashing you for whining I'll contribute something semi constructive.
Did you do the intelligent thing and buy his order and move it to another station? There are other stations and hubs other than Jita. If his order was THAT much lower than yours and you've been able to sell it at your typical price point then you know that people are willing buy at that price. Find out some alternative stations you can sell at and use those as backups. I've got about 10 stations within 5 jumps that I bounce around to if I need to in order to move my product. If that happens to me I buy his 300 undercut items, move them to my backup stations, mark it up and thank him for hauling my goods for me. Problem solved.

The funny part about this is the traders in stations like Jita who undercut (overbid) orders 12 jumps away. and as soon as one seller dose it, the rest follow suit. On some ships the price drops have cut profit in half over the last week. The only time I get frustrated is on T2 items, where there is a gap between item value and the refine value, which makes it possible for items to be sold at less than the collective parts value.

Originally by: Wieting Foyu OMG someone didn't do .01 is undercut? Seriously why would i spend 100 isk to under cut my 100m item .01 isk every five minutes, when I can undercut a million and still be making my min 20% I set for myself?
Undercutting .01 isk means EVERYONE in that station can undercut you not just a couple... So when you look again you see 8 orders under cut and the difference is a whole dime.
You fail at market logic. Your 1m undercut will be undercut by .01 as soon as another seller sees they are not the lowest, usually within 5 minutes during busy times.
There is no reason not to undercut untill the profit you make per week is reduced to the point where you can make more building something else.
One thing people seem to forget is that you pay the tax once you set the order up. On a high volume/price order, dropping the total sales price 20-50m before it finally all sells just might have cost you more filling a sell order.
Econ 101 for building, if the price keeps dropping, it's becasue there's excess supply.

There are ways to take advantage of this fact. Even traders act like sheep sometimes. |
