Edited by: sableye on 12/04/2004 16:50:10 I got it by accident, what do I have todo to get rid of it? I've tried killing drug smugglers ect but it never changes just says I gained 0.0000003% or something and thats not even for every ship I'm just really confused on how togo about getting rid of it.
do people in game treat you bad if you got a negative security rating?

Basically you have to run agent missions and kill all the bad guys for a long time, it took me four months to get my .2 status, and only 2 minutes to lose it.
ALthough it wasn't an accident, I was annoyed by an ore thief smack talkin on local in nonni so I decided to attack him for a laugh.
Can't think of anything witty to put here. |

don't like the prospect of having to fight for months to get rid of it, I wish the first thing this game did was tell me the laws of the galaxy it should have give me a screen warning before I broke it.
Maybe I should just make a new char and accept the loss but I've put so much into myc har over the last 5 days to get him off to a good start I don't really have to spend another 5 days getting a char up and running.

Edited by: Darker on 12/04/2004 17:30:53 On default settings you should get a warning/confirmation screen when engaging an attack. Well, at least it use to be like that unless you disabled the warnings. Create a new character if you want and transfer any isk to him/her and put ships/mods/etc on escrow restricted to the new character to pick up.
Or you just take the consequences and become an outlaw...j/k But i agree, it's too easy too loose sec rating but hard to get it back.

Well before you make any decision remember that -1.2 isn't that bad. You need to be -2.0 before you can't use 1.0 space so your movements are not yet restricted.
Havings said that I've been playing for about a month and if you do want to start a new character 5 days isn't that much to loose. A bit of a pain but the longer you leave it the more impossible it becomes.
I'm not sure if there is any other problem with having a neg sec status but I'll probably find out

You'll never get rid of it unless you do a npc battleship chain for at least a couple hours straight. Sec status change has gone from way too fast, to almost perfect, to way too slow. Basically you can only lose sec status and not gain it now.

To reply to the topic,
It takes FOREVER. I once splash damaged corp mate when gang fubard like it does so very often, and after losing my little frigate to Concord (thankfully only a Merlin), I received a -.05 sec loss.
Four months later, and I am only up to +0.1.
I have to say, the rate at which you acquire secuirty standing is pathetic. I once did the calculations, and it would take me something like 3.4 years real time to get it to 1.0. thats insane.
Anyway, as other posters suggested, with the removal of Concord missions to gain security status and with the rats giving out miniscule amounts of status gain, the best way to do it, is to join up with some big battleship freinds, and hunt the biggest rats you can find, you just need to land on hit on a big one per fifteen minutes to get a status increase.
Hope that helps!

Chains is the best way to remove it, I attacked some ore thiefs in Lumi and went from 0.05 to -0.05 in a few seconds (well worth it though) On the weekend a few of us started a cruiser chain for a few hours, took us roughly 6 hours to get my security back to 0.0 (we did it a few times over a weekend) then I just killed some rats by myself to raise it back to 0.4. Hasnt taken me long at all ------------------------------------------

chaining is: getting lots of ammo in you BS, Get a nice spawn of 2 cruisers and 4 frigates or so kill em all (but one frig) at optimum range, stay there, and wait till more rats show up it takes a while, but after about an hour, the rats will spawn every 3 minutes or so in your optimum range (if u got it right) so u just shoot and shoot and shoot (wilst still keeping that one little frig unhurt) and after a few hours u can see your wallet nicely filled up, and a couple of (hundred) cans in space with loot to scoop ... thats about what a chain is

get a bunch of buddies togetherm and go npc chain hunting in 0.0... with those npc battelships and all you should have no problem getting it back in a few years lol. Im starting to give up on getting my sec status up... it used to go from -0.2 to 0.0 in like 2-3 days... i think the system is broken or disabled. ----------------------------------- about:blank |

oh well guess I'll just keep plugging away, I managed to get my security rating wityht he cops down from -1.25 to -1.24 after hours of work, the system seems really hard unless you have a battle ship and lots of free time, I can only just manage to kill $4000 npc's, the system is very biased to experienced players since they the only one's who can take out the bigger npc's but I guess I'll get there eventually.
thanks all for your help.
