There will be no safety for the unclean as long as they reside in the Most Holy Lands. I say unto you, go into the Minmitar lands that have been set aside for the unsanctified where you will be safe from our most Holy Jihad.

Does frequent CONCORD spawns cause lag? If so it might be an incentive for CCP to address the issue of these constant suicide ganks. You know, in consideration of their Need For Speed Initiative.

You know, I have really never been a fan of the goons, but I guess even they can come up with a good idea now and then! And so they have with the jihad!
You see, after their message you are free to mine in minmatar space!
That means if you will continue to mine in peace you can: 1. take your chance they wont find you! or. 2. Move to minmatar space
IF people start moving from the overcrowded space which now the are the hunting areas of the goons people will start utilizing space which are not overcrowding: Minmatar space! So if all works out according to their plane, this could be a system relief and ease the burdens on the systems around Jita and other crowded space. And yes I know you cant mine in jita.
I hope the jihad can force people to spread out more, but since people are so afraid of moving I doubt that many will use the opportunities they have been given by the goonies to mine in peace in minmatar space.
Not sure what the goons reasoning for allowing people to mine in minmatar space though..

For each 'incidence' of a criminal act in 'safe-space' Concord sends 1 squad of bouncers to deal with it... so a single suicide attempt by a alt to get concord to show up will only bring 1 group. Which whont cause mutch lag...
BUT if you have an alt attack over and over and over again, concord will continue to send another and another and another 'group' of ships to the spot of the attack.. so yes.. you CAN overlag and crash a node by doing that.
The only way CCP will ever make empire space actualy 'safe' is if they disable player damage on all but war-targets in empire.. but then thats something i dought they will ever do. --------------------------------------------- "Only two great species on this planet take part in massive, organized warfare. Or they could ban pirates from using any gate that leads to high sec space. Why they are allowed to enter now is beyond me. If what the OP suggests works, great. But I have yet to see anyone confirm that if there are CONCORD ships hanging around, they will open fire on new lawbreakers. I will be content if this is so, though the alt I create to 'active' this protection won't much like it.
HOWEVER...if not, then one issue remains...no one, Goon or otherwise, should ever again suggest that hiring a guard is a solution to being suicide ganked. A few facts:
1) The guard, even if in a fleet with you, can do nothing until a hostile act occurs - ie, the ganker has already attacked you.
2) Suicides go in expecting that CONCORD will kill them, so the threat of being popped doesn't mean much - this is high sec, so you can't even punish them by podding them without getting nailed by CONCORD yourself, as I understand things.
3) Suicides don't politely target and attack the guard first, and the miner only gets ganked once the guard is dead. No, they go straight for the miner, meaning that unless you've got some massively skilled and equipped guard, or a lot of them, a few suicide ships are almost guaranteed a kill on the miner at least.
4) Someone, please show me how a Covetor with one mid and two low slots can be tanked enough to last until CONCORD arrives, or (given the ability of a knowledgeable ganker to warp in right on top of you) get out even if aligned and paying attention. Hulks may stand a fighting chance if properly equipped - Covetors (or any other barge) are helpless.
5) Explain why everyone who doesn't fly a Hulk or a fleet of Covetors with six times as many guards should be forced to abandon all areas with Kernite or go to low sec, and why this kind of mass attack on CCP's financial future should be allowed. I call it an attack on CCP's financial future because most miners I know have NO desire to spend all their time acting like a paranoid ***** addict (aka, mining in low sec), nor do they want to be cut off from three-quarters of the available mineral resources in supposedly Empire-controlled space. I imagine a large number would leave for greener pastures, and cause CCP some bad word-of-mouth PR in the process.
6) If the Empire nations claim to control "Empire-controlled space," why aren't they (and hence CCP) doing anything about what is obviously a threat to their territories and economies?
Okay, the rant/questions are over. Please note, I am not whining and am not crying. If I lose a ship to the Goonswarm, so be it, I will replace it. I do not, however, believe that allowing people to sneak through rules loopholes and then blame those they victimize for "allowing" themselves to be griefed is good policy for any game company. Purely on principle, I object to CCP's tolerance for what the Goons are doing. The 'Swarm is out to ruin others' enjoyment of the game, pure and simple, and by extension take over the game as a whole. The message is that they are strong enough that no one is allowed any playstyle that doesn't suit their whims, and CCP doesn't see a problem with this. Makes a person hope that Warhammer is playable.

Only this isn't the real world. It's a game.I don't think it's supposed to mirror real life.
If you want real world try looking out of a window. If you want to play a masterfully constructed MMO that is as dark as it is beautiful in an artificial galaxy created for us by CCP then play Eve.
Some rules in the real world a hardly fair either.

To the OP. Concorde is a plane that sadly flies no more. CONCORD is the in game almighty smiter
Very unlikely, and I would be sad to see it happen. The game does have non-consensual PvP as a core concept...my only complaints are that what is happening seems to go against the lore of the setting (the Empires' inflow of minerals is being sapped and yet they are doing nothing), and that the victims have little or no chance to avoid getting caught. Using guards is completely worthless, and the people bleating that you should always mine in a system with a tiny number of people are being a trifle unrealistic...anywhere but low sec, where there are minerals there are people.

Look at the market, then rethink your statement
The reason why mineral prices have not been affected is because of the scale of the macro industry.
Warp to any ice belt in high sec. You kill 1 hulk/mackinaw 2 more spawn in its place
Concord should be killing them themselves to promote a healthy market. 6 months ago, I was paying 250mil+ per vaga, now I can buy them for 80mil.
Its a buyers market...far too many suppliers.

Maybe in 6 months time, Goons will have driven the price back up. More likely is , even the largest alliance in the game cannot dent the isk farmers industry.
Point being, if Goons have any affect on economy from this, you will see prices go UP. So far they continue to fall. ISK farmers > Goons
You ever thought that it might be the effect of invention not macros that brought the vaga price down??? |

I was speaking of the "RP" effects, not the real ones. You don't think that, given the gun-happy and somewhat overbearing nature of some of the governments in Empire space, that they would perceive someone whacking miners in their territory to be a possible concern to their economies?

Prices are dropping. Concord should be happy that their empire might get a boost from increased mineral prices.
If anything, the ganking has stimulated a somewhat stale economy. So far the only change has been in the price of black market isk.

Missed the point completely...I'm referring to the Amarr, Caldari, and Gallente. Fictionally, at least, they profit from people mining and manufacturing in their respective territories. Along comes a group determined to destroy the basis of the manufacturing chain and stop the flow of resources in space THEY CONTROL. You honestly think they are going to sit on their butts and say "well, they seem to be stimulating the economy on the whole, at the moment..."

No..you are missing the point. The economy has NOT been touched.
Few guys have lost their ships, that is all. Show me some stats to indicate any impact on economy.

Snug you Hulk (or whatever) smack in between a nice, dense pack of roids. While not making you 100% safe it can make their job a lot harder (apart from of course tanking your ships with Plates/Extenders/Resists as best you can).
- Forces you to not be lazy if you usually mine from where you land on a WTZ to the belt which will get you owned.
- Makes it more difficult for a CovOps to maneuver to a location to act as a warp anchor without decloaking themself.
- If they try to warp a ship in right on top of you chances are very good they will be bounced away for landing in a roid. This can save you from smartbomb death, may push them out of high damage, close range blaster range and possibly mess up tracking on guns as their ship jumps out of the way.
The downside of course is you cannot warp out fast but if they are catching you in a suicide gank you are almost certainly webbed and scrammed anyway so no biggie.
If they work at it they can likely overcome these inconveniences but likely they will look for easier targets unless they are really bored. And you might get lucky and live and get to watch CONCORD pop them. -------------------------------------------------- "Of course," said my grandfather, pulling a gun from his belt as he stepped from the Time Machine, "there's no paradox if I shoot you!"
