For our non UK readers, Basil Brush is a kid's puppet show, akin to Bert and Ernie or something equally inoffensive.
"The complaint was logged as an incident of a racist nature and our hate crimes unit is investigating."

Every so often, I'm still shocked by how weak and timid this country has become. Soon we will have to shut down all TV, radio and any other communication, should it offend anyone whatsoever.

Sounds good to me. Anyone anywhere can complain. Sounds like the nation's officials are doing nothing if not perfectly sensible by investigating the complaint and finding it was harmless. ------

Costs the UK tax payer money to fund investigation into these pointless complaints that are made not because the person is genuinely outraged, but because they want to get their picture in the papers.
In conlusion, people who complain without cause should be shot :p |

Edited by: SoftRevolution on 21/03/2008 14:17:30 That is racist and unrepresentative. Selling pegs? Clearly they should have depicted her thieving from Kwiksave. I kid, I kid.
I should explain to our US viewers that gypsies move around the country in groups in carvans and make part of their income selling stuff door to door. Seems to be offering to retarmac your driveway more than selling lucky heather though these days. EVE RELATED CONTENT |

i can only offer sympathy, i know how it feels. the British are not bad people... but our culture could do with a kick in the ass. and to be honest.. a modern approach especially to science and technology.
the only thing i can say about the current issues with england is this "what reap what you sow"

I've never seen a gypsy in my whole life, except in the movies. I would have to see the whole clip, read the complain and get to know the gypsies before forming an opinion. Just because the ones investigating said it was innocent doesn't mean it really was. The thing with racism is that you often don't see it unless it's directed against you.
And I could trow in a good example that's going on right now in the US but I'm sure that lotsa racist/xenophobic americans would derail/troll/flame the thread beyond recognition so I will keep it to myself for now.

Edited by: Lord MuffloN on 22/03/2008 01:17:01 Edited by: Lord MuffloN on 22/03/2008 01:15:18 Sweden have gone crazy on stuff like that as well, a few years ago some people that are state supported with funding made a big ruckus saying that a ice cream that was called "nogger black" was racist and that the "mascot" for GB glace was racist (picture), ****** up as well.
Someone said gypsy's, and well, we've got madness on those as well, a few (read: about 20) of them was denied to stay at a camping place that was full and got 2000Ç each for this as it was apparently racist, woho, a friend of mine got beat up by 6 gypsy's and he got 500Ç and is being followed and harassed by then now. Really nice one, and on top of this, my mothers sister was robbed by gypsy's when she was taking out money 20 years ago is still being harassed/followed by gypsy's for having the balls going to court against this act. Really ****in' smooth.

Edited by: Seroquel on 22/03/2008 01:25:13 political correctness sucks wang. here in amerika there are a lot of icky-poo words you can't say and things you can't do because social decorum disallows it. sometimes i want to run around naked screaming these epithets to rebel.
i never do because i'm afraid the thought-police will ram tanks in the side of my house for simply thinking of one of these words.

Oh with that I totally agree. Thanks God I now have a washing machine at home! Some time ago I almost got in trouble while at the laundromat. What I did wrong? I asked my wife to pass me the 'black clothes'.
Note: I talk with my wife in spanish so look up the translation for the word 'black' and you'll understand.
