factories are for producing product that you sell on the market.
if you are producing product for any other reason, then you are technically not realizing the full potential of your factory.
If all the people that have had rented slots so far in this game, had actually produced anything and sold it on the market, the market itself would have cheaper prices. But you can see it does not as we have to rely solely on npc seed prices.
This new rental scheme forces people to use those slots to make money. All you guys making ammor for yourself, why not considering making ammor for the region you are in. competively price it. After a load of ppl buy your ammo you'll have more money to pay the next rental, more money in your pocket and you might even be able to afford a corporation and then to hire some miners to help you make more ammo with the new more ore you are now getting.
Quite literally this change means "**** or get off the pot" and it also will break the banks of those people who have locked up slots and are trying to sell them on ebay. IE, unless those people are actively playing their characters to make isk, tons of isk, they won't be able to hold on to those slots.
Also, I believe the dev blog or someother information said that prices will be automatically adjusted by region and other circumstances, one of those would be tons of free slots at a station I would presume. So what the heck does that mean? It means those ppl that have decided to hoard the slots and aren't using and aren't playing EVE to make more isk to hold those slots will soon run out of isk and those slots will be released. Then all of a sudden tons of slots will be available and the rents on them will plummet, thus restoring the original factory slot balance. even the research lab balance for slots.
And you will be happy. So instead of getting angry cause the 1 slot you found is now 70k to rent, just wait about 9 days for tons of evil players to suddenly go broke and the slots to return back to the public sector and then those slots will autoadjust cause there will be too many of them free at each station.
in short, just wait, you will be happy.
