currently sporting the Ospray, was wondering if the Moa would be the first ship i can get to participate in real pvp?
If not, any suggestions as to what to aim for would be helpfull, thanks.

Depends. What do you mean by real pvp? Also, if you've only been playing for 5 days, trying to take a cruiser into pvp combat is a sure fire of way of getting blown up. I'd go spend some time in a frig tbh. Killing is business and business is good. |

the pvp you're trying to aim at, is being a victim, flying either of those ships ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼

PVP: Don't fly what you can't afford to lose. I wouldn't PVP in the best ship you have. I would def get a MOA for missions, as they are pretty good at them.
If you want to PVP successfully, you are going to have to be a corp *****. Hop in a dispoable frig, and scramble and web the enemy for your group and hope you don't die. Thats the only way early players can really get into any successful PVP. With a small fleet, and trying to get any shots on the enemy they can. Scraps so to speak.
As you get more skills, you can move up to a destroyer, as they hit pretty hard and are not really too expensive either.
The more accustomed and comfortable you get in combat situations, the better you will be at successfully PVP'ing when you do have the skills.

Step 1) Put Moa back in hangar Step 2) Buy a Minmatar Frigate skillbook, train it and buy a Rifter Step 3) Fit a web, scrambler and AB, find a PVP gang and pewpewpew
Really, you're not going to contribute anything more than free salvage if you try and fly a cruiser this early, and Caldari ships just aren't built for solo PVP. Learn to tackle, and join some people who know what they're doing while you develop your skills (ingame and IRL).

this.
the amarr punisher is a great frig too if you like amarr. caldari are not a bad race, just not the BEST for pvp, especially with low SP.
go get minmatar frig lvl 3 and some autocannon skills and whatnot, and youll LOVE the rifter.
leave the cruiser docked, use frigs. they seem useless but a couple disposable T1 frigs in a gang to tackle are incredibly useful to the gang.
cliffs: 1. dock the cruiser 2. get a tackle frigate 3. have fun in gangs as a tackler 4. profit from learning/experience
PS: this is *exactly* what i did, only i used amarrian ships. and i STILL fly them!

If you are going to stick to Caldari, then I'd suggest 3 things.
1. Don't take a cruiser into combat yet. You don't have the support skills (engineering, mechanic, navigation, electronics, etc) trained up enough yet to make you effective. PvP takes time to learn, and you are going to fail alot at first. Thats fine, just make sure it doesn't ruin you.
2. Try the Kestrel. Its a fine choice, decent damage, its not very fast but does the job. Train up light missle or rocket skills, and go have some fun. They'll go boom alot, but you'll learn lots.
3. If you like, train up some of the electronic warfare skills and try a Griffin. Jamming can take some effort to master, but its very useful in gangs, and you get a certain joy out of jamming bigger ships or more experienced characters :)
Once you feel kind of comfortable in either of those, then move on to cruisers like the Caracal or Blackbird. I'd avoid the Moa for PvP, its not the best choice.
Die lots, and have fun doing it! Thats what the insurance is for anyway! ________________________________________________ This thread does not exist

honestly, flying a blackbird is the fastest way to get blown up ever, its almost always primary. A Cormorant would be an awesome choice till you get more sp(sounds like your going for turrets, good man)and chances are if your running with a corp the Moa isn't going to be primary for a while and wouldn't be a horrible choice once your able to replace it easy enough. After alil bit you can move up to a Ferox and really start getting some of the kills, hang out in the ferox until you have full t2 active tank good engineering skills, basically all t2 modules aside from turrets before you move up to the rokh.(well you can run missions sooner but deffently don't take a Rokh out into pvp with out a decent sized fleet.)

first off, if ur planing to play eve long time, think about switching race as others already mentioned. caldaris are not that famous for their pvp abylity. to be honest, their mayor part beeing displayd on killboards is the poor raven victim jumped in a belt and getting raped
good pvp races because of a sweet variety they offer is either minmatar or gallente. choose one and learn cruiser thorax or rupture, get ur learnings up while u make cash in missioning, and after that progress further down the route, cepters, bs and t2 gear.

Caldari are not "the suck." If you wanna get into a flashy tech two ship, go for an assault frig. The hawk makes a great low sp pvp ship. The skills you need for an assault frigate are also skills that should be at the top of yoru list for training.

Don't listen to this. Someone just got lost his Raven to a Armageddon and wants to whine.
Caldari are good at pvp. they have weapons that don't miss (missiles) and their Electronic Warfare ability is unmatched. All the races have their niche.. You may not be the best damage dealer, but I have NEVER seen a fleet so happy to get an cruiser as when a Blackbird shows up... let alone a 8 midslot Scorpion

And crikey, should you ever find yourself able to fly a Falcon with any degree of competence, I assure you that the people you fly with just won't let you fly anything else.
Unless that 'anything else' is a blaster-rokh. God I love my ships. "I got soul but I'm not a soldier" |
