Hi, I have made an Gallente alt for PvP. I am currently training learning and support skills but later i will start to train for the ships and I would like to have an idea what each type of ships contribute in PvP.
Like I said I am currently Gallente so i would like to keep with their ships if I can.
If you could try and enlighten me on the following ship types (and maybe the individual ships)
Assault Ships - Enyo - Ishkur
Black Ops - Sin
Command Ships - Astarte - Eos
Heavy Assault Ships - Deimos - Ishtar
Heavy Interdictors - Phobos
Marauders - Kronos
I would really like to know what their role is in small and large fleet combat.
I was thinking of training for Assault Ships and then Heavy Assault Ships is this a good idea?
P.s i don't mind waiting until I can fly the ship as it is an alt - I just would like to know what to aim for.

thanks for the replies
so would it be better to go AF > HAC or Cruiser > BC > BS ?
Looking on EVEmon I will be able to get into a fully fitted AF within less than a month (which i don't mind at all) and then i can get into a HAC a few weeks later as the skills required to fly a HAC are rather similar to the AF.

Anymore more replies would be great :)

my recommendation:
First: train Interceptors. Useful in every Gang. Cheap and the first step in the learning curve for pvp. getting navigation skills is also usefull for all ships in the future. also for travelling in 0.0 ur nearly untouchable. makes helluva fun to fly too. Ares is one of the verry best tacklers ingame, and Taranis, well, its a Ranis feared and famous for good reasons.
Second: train Battleships ( Megathron ), including T2 gear. Reason: still one of the most used types of eve pvp is good old BS fleet combined with the typical support, like ceptors and dictors etc.
Third: personell choice, HACs because nanohac-gang is fun and ppl just like to roam in this gangs for good firepower and high surviveability. Go nano-Ishtar combined with T2 Ogres / Berserkers. Same goes for Dictors and Recons, tho Minmatar have the most used recons ( Hugin / Rapier ). CS is nice and verry wellcomed in a gang, but a long way to train ( charisma anyone ? ) My Vote here: train Ishtar.
Just my observation......
thanks for that reply - very useful!
So, could you explain what the difference between AFs and Interceptors and what role they both take? or is it a fact of interceptors being better than AFs?
Only reason why i was thinking about training for AFs was because its pre-req for HACs
