I don't think the devs will mind of you, or anyone else, proves that another game has had more people logged in simoultaneously than EVE. But please provide a link to some form of evidence.

I am not too familiarwith that game other than by name alone. Is that record all in one world like eve, or is itspread across several identical or different worlds on different servers? The record that CCP is talking about setting is for the amount of people in a single virtual world, not a total number of players across different worlds. ------

Even with the new foliage patch that game is dead in the water, it has been for ages.

and maby wwii will go down who knows but that wasent my point eve dosent hold the record if they want to prove me wrong sure go ahead

EVE Online has had 9k players, the most on a single server cluster for any 3D game. Other games are sharded and only have a few thousand per server at most. KOTW had 12k on one server cluster, but that wasn't 3D

Let's forget the word "server". Of course there is a server cluster. "Server" is a misleading expression.
The point is "world". People in the same game world. Most online games have several identical game worlds running, with limits at a few thousand players per world.

Let me clear up what I meant by Server. I didnt mean as in one single box. I know that it is spread across several servers (boxes) but these are all linked and comunicating together as one to create eve. I was simply trying to highlight a difference with online games that have different servers that do not communicate to make one big world like eve, and rater they are a cluster of different and isolated worlds. Thats what I meant. ------

You have still not pointed me to the place with the info on their record...
...and you are wrong if 2 ppl can be at the same place at the same time and still be at different places (servers), if you understand what I mean... I don't know if this is the case with that game though...

Last time I played WW2 it had only one single world. But I don't know any player numbers.

You make the bold claim of "no online record" in the post header, and use this claim to back up that statement.
The question quite rightly asked is, where is the proof required to back up your claim, and therefore your right, to rubbish CCP's claim?
All you have done is mentioned another games website, amd then cryptically suggest that the evidence is there.
Instead of Scorpyn having to spend his time looking, why dont you just paste the link that led you to post, (what is fast appearing to be an ill informed post), in these forums?

Making player numbers public isn't common in the genre it seems. I looked around a bit myself, but I can't find any recorded numbers or something resembling press statements from other games.
That said, nine thousand online at the same time isn't bad, alot of games have servers with 3 to 5k as the max and maybe 75% of that online at the same time.

Well until you have proof....as in posting a link....your post has no integrity! Many people have asked for the link and you have, as of yet, not provided it, further discrediting you! If what you say is correct then to make everyone believe you all you need do is post the link. I'll even believe then as long as it's part of ww2's official website! But I doubt that they come even close to the number of players in a single persistent world as EVE does!

i will back up greatone here on the ww2 online issue. i come to this game from ww2ol and have been playing it for over a year.
world war 2 online is as greatone says one huge map, no zoneing and no load times. also ww2ol easyly beats the 10k mark during prime time US hours, other times it can be deserted.
the game also gets a patch every 4-6(agressively) that add new content and expand the game world(avrage is 10mb).
the map is europe at half scale! with parts of england modeled for game play resons.
funny thing is, i read in the world war 2 forums that there was an eve trial going on and thats how i ended up here(and subscribed:)
both games are excellent and both games have the lowest monthly sub fee compaired to the other online games.

i just got a reply from one of the ww2 online creators. indeed eve holds the current record.
here is the responce i got from CRS:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Whilst it is a signifigant, and proud achievement for Eve Online, I don't think they did it in a single world shard, ie: it would have been across several zones. That is my (limited) understanding of how they manage their online player population, and I could well be wrong.
WWIIOL does it all in a single instance of the world, no shards, no zones. I think we're still ahead in those terms. Sure would be nice to have 10k players online at once though. B] _________________ Geof Rey Evans Producer/CRS "We PWN PvP" Congrats Eve online heres to 20k cheers

I have to say for someone who said they play that game you sure seem to know quite little about it, and how it works etc... at least here in eve everyone can find the info quite fast, i tried to go look for info but it wasnt easy trying to find the info on that website the info about the game its self and how it works etc... is very basic and has very little tech info on how it works etc...
if you want to post or say things about that game vs eve you better have links to stuff or else dont even bother to hit the reply button until you have something, or else you will be thought as a troll and nothing more. support Idea: QuickInfo an alternative to ShowInfo

Kind of the WW2o guys to reply so fast :)
On the subject of trial players, being one myself I can tell you that the current max number of trial players on Tranquility(sp?) is 1000 and the last few days I was trying to log in the actual amount was 999.

Why does GREATONE state WWII Online had more than 10k online when their own devs deny it?
Wanna share that uber secret insiders info with us m8? The one even the devs don't know about?
