Im bored, so I jc from 0.0 to empire to do a little lowsec roaming with my mate.
We jump into lowsec try doing some scanning when 5 pirates come in, my mate docked up while I fly around cloaked. Rapier ftw.
They camp his ishtar with a cane, rapier, broadsword and a thanatos. Nothing new.
I go one jump up and find a 4 day old player in an omen ratting. I scan him down, lock, point, shoot.
Take him to about structure, and tell him lowsec is a dangerous place for a 4 day player and leave. Im not mean enough to just blow up some noobs.
He starts yelling at me in local about how it wasnt a fair fight, he had 2 cruiser sized rats on him. He claims he can take me, and smacks. He challanges me to a fight, and I set up a planet to fight at. He arrives and I take him to structure again, and tell him all he needs to do to save his ship is say he is sorry for smacking me. He continues to smack me... I try to tell him lowsec is dangerous and he should be careful.
I am not the best pirate, I waited around for a while trying to convince him. I finally issued an ultimatum: Bryg Philomena > Ok, lets put it this way. Say sorry for hurting my feelings and I let you go. Or dont and I will blow up your ship. You have 30 seconds to comply
Of course, he ignores me. I have to pop him for his disrespect. In responce:

I leave the loot and tell him to collect it. Now I am sitting in system cloaked waiting for my GCC to end.
Please tell me. WHY wouldnt he say sorry?

Well he's already an idiot for scheduling a 1v1 after he already had his ass handed to him. I mean maybe he just figured if he was going to fail he might as well go all the way.

Addendum. My mate gets out in a shuttle and fetches a crusader. Comes to the system I am in where I am offering the 4 day pilot his loot back. He comes, and CONTINUES smacking in local.
I authorize use of deadly force. He is out a noobship.
He CONTINUES TO SMACK, resulting in:
Bryg Philomena > if you would stop insulting people I wouldnt have to do this:
Bryg Philomena > pod him huli
I had been telling him to be nice and not pop the bugger for a while.

I have a million ideas why he didn't say 'sorry', but they are not important.
The much more important thing is that in this world (real world) you don't have to be good or bad, you've got to do what you've got to do.
In this case: blow him to pieces at the first time, explain nothing to him and petition any smacktalk petitonable.

Why didn't you pod him the second he smacked ? Or , you know , keep his pod scrambled and mock him to trigger more smack , then squish him when you get bored of it. Or just pod him straight and reject convo if you really don't like smack.

It's rare that the pod survives long enough to smack for me...I usually have to wait for them to send me a message...which doesn't happen often enough.

The fact that he wouldn't appologize is no big deal to me. But the smack? meh... Arrogance + temper are about the dumbest combination of qualities a pilot can possess in eve. He might as well have undocked w/ no mods cos it's nearly a sure loss every time.

Well IĈm not a PVPer but I do understand the game and the chances you take. That guy was an idiot, especially if all he had to do was say sorry or better yet keep his trap shut the first time. I donĈt venture into low sec much, but when I do I relies there is the chance of getting smoked and it is a chance I take. That is why it is low sec and no security. You want to play in a hot zone be prepared to get shot. And this is coming from a bear.

Actually, he knew what Bryg was flying at that point. He should of docked and fit his omen to counter Bryg's ship. That is why only noobs accept 1v1.

I always get the ones who just want to talk... no fair.
Depends on my mood and the tone of the smacktalk if I'll put up with it, but I don't petition people (or haven't needed to)... I mean I'm the evil bastard that popped him in the first place. Anyone that's ever met me knows I can't be stopped from saying something dumb in local, or just randomly running my mouth (more often than not at a corp mate who fails horribly at smack talking... too bad he's not around).
Good natured smack is good... the guy in the OP is just lame because you let him go, and I guess he couldn't handle that he wasn't even worth killing?

First of all the person in reference is me. The alt char he is talking about is "Hydn Shadows" Second of all I wont say sorry to someone who has came equipped to gank a noob. Third of all I wont say sorry to someone who is shooting at my ship while im fighting rats and has a warp scrambrer on me at the same time. Now what words I called him has nothing to do with the point where I sould say sorry. Then to come and now brag on the forums about it... All I can say is he must be sufffering from small man syndrome. Also Never said I could take him... I told him to head to C4C for a better challenge. so I guess instead of heading to Non Empire low sec he comes to the forums to brag and thats a coward. So why should I apologize?

Actually I think he is rather lucky that it was you who jumped him Bryg and not another player! God knows if it was me after the first instance, I would have destroyed his ship without giving him the option of apologising!
Why didnt he say sorry? hmmm guess he is a knob of epic proportions, thats the only valid reason I can think of
