This maybe a silly question but I cant find any info on it anywhere. Atm its impossible to create a Jovian character or enter Jovian space. Does anybody know when this will be changed??

At the moment, you need to get hired as a program developer by CCP.

Hehe yeah. Maybe I wasnt specific enough. I meant when would it be possible for a regular player (not associated to CCP in any way) to become Jovian or enter Jovian space?

Shortly after release, (or it could have been beta, my memory is fuzzy) there was a small bug that asked players to "Enter CD-Key in order to enable Jove slot."
A sign of things to come perhaps?

Was mentioned in a recent CSM and i think Papa Smurf also said it in a post that Jove are expansion pack material.
So start saving

I just pray Jovians are reserved for "true" Roleplayers, rather than those who only ever Roleplay when it's to justify whatever it is they do.

Edited by: Amin on 13/04/2004 22:11:51 True, but how does CCP differentiate between those who roleplay from those who dont?
Also, as far as roleplay is concerned, being Jove would probably be the easy way out.

you need to provide linkage to anything that a dev states as going into an expansion pack. Personally I haven't seen anything about any type of expansion pack. In fact everything I've seen says that ccp is very much against doing any type of expansion pack, preferring instead to have 1 persistant game world with everyone on the same page.

Yeah it looks like at some point in the future the devs will be giving out Jove Codes to certain players and you'll need one of these to become a Jovian.

Papa Smurf, answered a similar question here. Also search the CSM's this this last group, it was also stated there.

Well this is actually a fair question. EvE was advertised as a game with 5 playable races and so far, I've only seen 4. It would be nice to hear some hint as to what we must do and when we might expect even a chance at going jove.

I sometimes wonder if CCP has it set up like they do in SWG for the jedi race. Only for Eve it would be like you need 10mil skill points + plus having visited every system etc

I quite like the idea of genetic engineering that cropped, personally:
ie Do something special for the Jovian Empire (Through Roleplay, faction standing....whatever, really) and you get the choice of sacrificing a portion of your skillpoints to undergo said engineering in order to become a Jove.
This would fit in with canon (As Jovians are "grown" in those tubes, after all), give almost everyone an equal chance AND see who would be willing to make a sacrifice.
Although I still think there should be some sort of screening progress, regardless.

An anology bogs my mind at the moment.
EvE is to Jovians as Star Wars Galaxies is to Jedi. Camp rats for 1000 hours, you get a force sensitive slot. Camp rats for 1000 hours, you get a Jovian slot. --------------
