When you pod people, they turn into regular frozen corpsticle, not much to look at. Why not animate it? Make it do a little death dance, let us see skin change color, let us see eyes pop and blood gush from the mouth and blood vessels ripping all over the body. Make it last at least 30 seconds.
It would make killing people much more interesting!

people don't get instantly frozen in space. I remember someone posted a link to article on this matter. The main idea is that the only way to lose heat is thru radiation, since there is nothing touching the body. And people don't make that much radiation. So it takes a long time to get frozen

Edited by: Kellyl on 14/04/2004 20:19:14 Surely tho, in reality a corpse would not be left. When a pod is split open the body would explode due to explosive decompression???

Radiation: raĀdiĀaĀtion n. The act or process of radiating: the radiation of heat and light from a fire. Physics. Emission and propagation and emission of energy in the form of rays or waves.
a human body will imidiately become frozen in space. Space holds no temperature like here on earth, therefor it is as cold as can be measured.
o and, no. Blood would drive the esrb rating up and fewer people would play. Fewer people playing=less money to ccp. less money to ccp=never getting new things implemented. No new things in eve=drop in subscription....you can figure out the rest.

people don't radiate a lot of energy fast, therefore they cannot lose a lot of energy fast. The fact that there are no particles to interact with in space makes the cool down process even slower.
Anyway, this little feature could be made optional, with OFF by default. I bet there are some players with 3D studio skills that could make all the animations and CCP could just plug it in as an optional addon

correct instantly
in additon all oxygen would be forced form the lungs you would deficate on yourself from the lack of air pressure. your vains would bulge and likely burst forcing your skin to swell and then rupture. the fine vains in your eyes would instantly break and you would blead from your eyeballs. you would also vomit anything you had in your stomach involuntarily. that would all happen in about 10 sec max. after that blood spills from your wonds at a much faster rate than in our atmosphere. in addition the fluid in your spine would rupture from you back instantly severing your spinal chord and breaking your back. after about 15 sec you undoubtedly woul be dead ----------------------------------------------

Now all we need is some talented 3D animator to put everything Tobruk has said into reality.. only stretch the whole thing to 30 seconds rather than 15. Give people some time to select that Look At command

Great! Implement that and nobody will ever want to leave Empire space or he will be hunted by gruesome images of his death for the rest of his life.

Nice story, but of course completely false. Your blood won't boil and your body won't explode. There is a thing called 'explosive decompression' which is related to trying to hold your breath and your lungs rupturing violently under such conditions - and nothing to do with exploding spines, etc.
A quick google will turn up sites explaining this in more detail, here's one with more general info on exposure to outer space:

Divers and mountaineers experience various forms of decompression - and I'm not aware of them popping regularly :-)

Ummm...that's becasue they change elevation slowly, not instanly appear with no atmospheric pressures.

Not necessarily with divers (which is why some die every year) - fact remains that people going kaboom on entering a vacuum is a myth. I dare say some monkeys earnt their bananas for NASA to decide on that.
