Originally by: Aria Jenneth Humans are tool-using animals, and they're very good at using tools, but the basic nature of the animal does not change with the mere sophistication of the tools used.
This is exactly why I think that basically there is no difference between capsuleers and other humans. Capsuleers just use more sophistcated tools more frequently.
Most of my time I spend with my family, planetsides and I'm happy doing so. I'm still participating in ground combat every now and then - we've peace in the Empires after all - , without benefiting from cloning technology there. And I'm happy doing my duty there. If I get up in the morning, I don't look into the mirror and think: "I'm a Thorax." And that's not only ridiculous because I'm not able to pilot one.
Captain Jenneth, to be honest I think you didn't manage to keep an optimistic outview. You're a pessimist. You choose to be one.
You set out to be a soldier, you said and now you are a killer for hire. There is no way you can expect to be rewarded with love for this by humanity and you know this. You have to fear for your life and with it being potentially unending, that's pretty much to fear for.
But other capsuleers choose other ways in their life. Many might choose a way earning them respect from the other humans or even love. Some capsuleers might even accept their eventual death without fear. I surely don't aspire to live eternally.
You say you would like to be proven wrong happily. Unfortunately one can't prove that something won't happen in the future. So you doom yourself to believe in your own dark prophecy. Your distrust and pessimism denys you to accept that not all capsuleers might be as doomed as you think to be yourself.
It's not fact that we are doomed. It's the way you interpret the given facts which make you think so. The philosophus once said: "Happiness depends upon ourselves." You are free to interpret the facts otherwise. You are free to become what you set out to be.
I understand that you strive for perfection. But I believe perfecting yourself doesn't mean to have perfect control over the tools you use. It's about useing them in the right way for the right purpose. If you forget about this you won't be one with the sword or the ship. You will be the ship and you will cease to be yourself and indeed human.
Captain Jenneth, I would ask you to do me a favor: Find the happiness in your life.
Yours faithfully N. Mithra
