Buy Low. Sell High.
Theory's good, but looking at the market in region it's almost impossible to find any trade goods which you can actually buy for less than ten times the sell price. The only thing i've seen to actually make money is bloody ore, and I can make more by mining it myself.
Am is missing something or is this a case of SOON...?
Acornsoft Elite was much easier.... 35 tonnes of textiles from Lave, quick trip to Diso.....

The theory is good, and it does work in practice as well.
Best way I've found is to go to 'Market' -> 'trade goods' -> entire constellation and then check each product manually on prices, distance and volume and size of product.
For a noob you can make some serious money and get a chance to check out neighbouring systems. Ideally you need a ship with a big cargo space.

Make a buy/sell list for each region and you'll get an idea of trade routes. But buying minerals in say Devoid and selling them in Crux is a good way to make money also.

Hello Meowcat!
Have a look at the corporations under the various factions on this link here. At the bottom of the screen for that corporation it tells you the sort of thinks that particualr corporation buys and sells. The rest is up to you! have fun!

An even better way is to join a player run corporation, who have pilots in different regions, who can check prices for you.
Gravis Corp. still growing, if you want to join, eve-mail me in game.

is travel between regions dangerous?
do you have to go through low sec space, etc?
not really happy doing this in an indy with no slots filled (no skills for MWD, burners, etc) ~~~~)\~~~~~\o/~~~~

Dangerous, but it can be rewarding. I usually try to steer clear of 0.4 while flying an unescorted indy- but sometimes a juicy deal will force you to take a risky route.
In that case, I suppose, you can either decide to take a probe (or imicus or what have you) and shuttle goods in smaller amounts, or take your cheapest indy. Or just go for it
