I know someone has probably already figured this problem out. Last night I built a new BS. On a trial flight the 100MN MWD worked fine. Then, the 2d time I tried to use it a pop-up appeared: New Module requires 95% capacitor blah blah blah you only have 74%.
After a few trials I noticed I could do the same thing with a 10MN MWD...use it once, then get this pop-up making it impossible to use the MWD's a 2d time.
I have another BS I fly regularly - fully equipped - and everything works fine.
Does anyone know what's going on here? Or how I convince the game that a module has changed from NEW to NOT NEW? Or how I can simply get things to work like they're supposed to?
I would deeply appreciate any knowledgeable info. Thanks

It's now possible to toggle stuff on and offline in space, but you need to have 95% cap in space, so I'd guess that the MWD is offline.
Dock your ship, and toggle the module to make it online - that should fix your problem.

Thanks Rodj. But I'm thinking it's really more than that. When I set the ship for flight, I personally turned each module on-line in the station...so nothing was off-line.
When I flew, a module would work the first time, but then not work the 2d time....and I had NOT turned it off-line while in flight. Someone had mentioned repackaging the ship, then reassembling it, but I'm not sure that's going to fix anything either....I'll try tonight.
I'm inclined to agree it might be a bug thing. I logged off and cleared my Cache files, then re-logged back on, but the same thing happened the 2d time I tried to use a module in-flight.
I sure hope we get a quick resolution to this problem.....

i always have that - they work until u jump - repackage and reassemble solves it - but if u have the thing insured u cant do that - since it makes u loose the insurance

Well Isiana, I shall find out tonight if that repackage process works or not. This ship is not insured yet as I just got it off the factory line. I'm setting it up for flight to a place to be sold on the market.
Tongith I shall repackage and reassemble the thing, and see what happens.
I hope you're right that it fixes the problem... Thanks

It's a bug and it doesn't only happen with mwd, though its more common happening with these particular modules. A couple of days ago, after jumping from one system to another, 60% of my modules went offline automatically on my frig. What's worst is that not even with the required 95% cap would they go online. Had to dock and refit to fix this.
CCP has done it again..... as usual

Edited by: Crook on 14/04/2004 16:21:55 And that's EXACTLY my concern, Doc. If I find myself pleasantly cruising along when suddenly some low life piece of pond-scum decides to pop a few rounds at me, and my damn weapons systems only respond one time then go off-line - I'M SCREWED!!!!!
I hope someone has filed a bug report. I shall send one this evening. Thanks for the feed-back - I now know it's not just a "why is this happening to me?" thing.

I hope we get this fixed ASAP, and I request that CCP add a pop-up window: Are you sure you want to put this module offline/online. It's extremely annoying warping into belt full of npc's and the first thing that happens is that you lose 66% of your cap to get one module online. And often when you're doing show info on a module you accidently press 'put offline'. If you're in deepspace you'll have to wait for your 95% cap to recharge before you can put the module online, and then wait for the cap to recharge again. I sometimes don't have anything that helps with cap rechargerate except one power diagnostic on my tempest, so that is rather frustrating.

Edited by: Crook on 14/04/2004 16:48:18 Just for the record Muspell: my modules WERE online. Nothing had been put offline. The problem was I was only able to use a module 1 time. The 2 time it failed and I got the pop-up.
Also - one time I sat and waited until the cap was at 100%, then hit the module. I STILL got the pop-up telling me my cap wasn't at 100%.
Very, very frustrating!!!

Muspell, I couldnt agree more about confirmation of putting an item offline. Its too easy to accidently click offline... then youre left without the item, which can be detrimental if the item was important. Perhaps have a method of locking certain objects from being turned off on accident. It will take some forethought on the pilots part, but thats not unreasonable. Then they may be unlocked at station.
Ex: Turning off my MWD would give me a large amount of energy (and shields) to apply elsewhere in a tight situation, but when in the name of heaven do I want to turn off "item X of dire importance"? Its possible (I suppose) to turn off certain modules that would disable all subsystems that rely on the boost/benifit it provides. That could have fatal consequences when done mistakenly.
Just a thought. I digress.

The same happened to me a couple days ago on a domi going from metropolis region to yulai, the mwd was online when i fitted it,i used it once to reach the gate to jump, after jumping i get the same message.I dock ,refit the mwd and making sure it was online, after jumping the same happens... i gave up.After reaching Yulai and on my way to dock, the mwd is working.

Edited by: Athule Snanm on 14/04/2004 23:14:22 Same problem here. Was happily using MWD then it suddenly came up with the message that it needed to be at 95% to be brought online. I waited until it was and I still got the message, but it said that my cap was actually at 72% in the message (ship UI was showing over 95%). I let it recharge some more and after a while I could bring it online and use the module. As soon as I jumped the problem came back again - ie module went offline, couldn't be brought online again even when the ship UI showed the cap to be more than 95%. Docking and refitting (and/or relogging possibly) fixed the problem.
Edit: equally strange was that when I went to dock to refit it showed as being online.

MY FINAL RESPONSE:
Well, as promised, I went on-line last night and repackaged the new BS. Then I reassembled it, installed the 2 100MN MWD's and took it out for a test. The MWD's worked fine 3 different times. I landed, installed the rest of the modules, launched and tried again. And again the MWD's worked fine multiple times. I then jumped to another sector, and tried the same thing. And once again there was no problem at all. I flew the BS 7 jumps to where I put it on the market for sale.
Now, either there "WAS" a bug and it got fixed, or this incident is common to new ships. Once I had repackaged and reassembled everything worked exactly as it should - with no burps what-so-ever.
I'm not sure if we ever concluded anything in this post, but we "DID" find out it wasn't a one-time one-pilot problem.
Good luck to everyone, and thanks very very much for your postings.
