Hey!
I would like some advice. I have a char that i want to train to do missions. I lack allot of support skills, but my idea was to start with a drake and do lvl 4 missions.
All shield skills are at lvl 4, missile skills is under training...
Setup i had in mind using is. [Drake, lvl 4] Ballistic Control System II Ballistic Control System II Power Diagnostic System II Shield Power Relay II
Photon Scattering Field II Heat Dissipation Field II Invulnerability Field II Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II 10MN Afterburner I
Advanced 'Limos' Heavy Missile Bay I, Scourge Heavy Missile Advanced 'Limos' Heavy Missile Bay I, Scourge Heavy Missile Advanced 'Limos' Heavy Missile Bay I, Scourge Heavy Missile Advanced 'Limos' Heavy Missile Bay I, Scourge Heavy Missile Advanced 'Limos' Heavy Missile Bay I, Scourge Heavy Missile Advanced 'Limos' Heavy Missile Bay I, Scourge Heavy Missile Advanced 'Limos' Heavy Missile Bay I, Scourge Heavy Missile [empty high slot]
Core Defence Field Purger I Core Defence Field Purger I Core Defence Field Purger I
Hammerhead I x2
--- DPS 205 Speed: 380 Resistance: 71,77,64,76 Tank 307 ---
Will this work, can it tank?
I dont plan to do all missions fast, i just want to get started. Can it work, can i do this until i train more skills?

Drop the AB put in LSE. drop the invul and the active hardners put in mission spec passive resists. Now replace the PDS with an extra SPR run a few missions and see how it goes if u have no problem with the tank, then replace the SPR with 1 more BCU. Word of adviace for the hard missions u may want to try fitting 3 SPR II untill u feel u are cofortable with the tank and mission running.
If i post something smart it represent my corp and alliance all other posts are my feeling/ideas only and do not represnt the rest |

Enemies Abound 5/5 will get you vaporized before you could say: "Hello, my name is mission runner, how do you feel on this beautiful day?". Blockade could prove to be tricky. --------------------------------------------- GET TO THE CHOPPA!!! The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese. |

Lvl 4's with a drake are good if you have amazing missile skills. I started with a drake doing some easy lvl 4's and was tanking it fine, but my dps was terrible. I was slowly killing or not killing the rats at all. This is the drake's downfall and you would just be wasting ammo imo.

Drake is a bad dps dealer, combined with an excellent tank. Unfortunately, you cannot boost dps much by sacrificing much of your tank. So if I were you, I'd go with a more classic setup: 3 shield extenders, the remaining mids filled by mix of rat-specific hardeners and amplifiers, so that the Drake is cap stable and generates some cap for warps. I personally use one Invulnerability Field II and two resistance amplifiers. Lows are filled with Shield Power Relays and a single Ballistic Control. It is very important to use drones, Hobgoblins II will make quite a difference. Assuming some skill, you will have about 500-600 passive (!) tank and about 200 dps (239 with my char).

I don't know how many times I have to tell people this but using three extenders is a complete waste of fitting. You always need a PDU to fit a decent setup with three LSEs. You are better off replacing the third LSE with a Shield Recharger II and the PDU with a SPR II/Beta SPR or a BCU II. Any 3x LSE setup you put up I will come up with a 2x LSE setup that has a better tank and does more DPS. I guarantee it.
My Guristas Drake setup does 368 DPS with Hornet IIs and tanks 676 DPS.

here is the setup i will start with...
[Drake, lvl 4] Ballistic Control System II 3x Shield Power Relay II
3x shield hardeners II 2x Large Shield Extender II Shield Recharger II
7x Advanced 'Limos' Heavy Missile Bay I, Scourge Heavy Missile
3x Core Defence Field Purger I

Wow, you couldn't be more wrong.
You can fit three extenders and a full rack of T2 heavies with shield upgrades 5 and AWU 4, no fitting mods. And it beats the hell out of your 2 extenders and a shield recharger.
Shield Rechargers are garbage, folks. Don't use them.
edited: I should probably add that you don't need more than 2 extenders and three hardeners for level 4s, anyway. And I should also add that an Afterburner can significantly reduce incoming damage if used well. I spit on your EFT tanks!

My drake for Lvl 4 missions
Low: 2 Ballistic Control System II 2 Beta Reactor Control: SPR (same stats as tech2, but these are easier on the cpu)
Med: 3 Large Shield Extender II 1 Invulnerability Field II 2 rat specific active hardeners
High: 7 Arbalest Heavy Missile Launcher 1 Drone Link Augmentor
Rigs: 3 Core Defence Field Purger
Tanks 500-900 dps depending on damage types. Deals around 320 dps with my skills.
