Yes, I'm sure that this event constitutes the worst customer service ever. ---------------- Tarminic - 34 Million SP in Forum Warfare Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.79.3 (Updated 3/24) |

You are aware that poor fps is your machine's fault? Not CPP's? Considering there are two clients for you to choose from, both are stable on almost any machine...

Actually... You are completely wrong in this statement.
Before this latest patch I used to run the game flawlessly at an acceptable framerate on my machine. The only slowdown I recieved were playing zoomed in on one of the complexes I encountered with tons of the cloud and debris crap and about 50 bajillion drones. (could draw 120 people on grid just fine).
However, after this patch, sitting at a safe spot, looking away from everything with NOONE ELSE in local, I notice a distinct slowdown in the framerate. I believe the rough estimate is.. anything faster than 30frames per second and the human eyes can't notice it, but anything lower than 20 is a distinct difference... Well I am definitely in the under 20 group right now. It feels like I am running fraps (which I do not even have installed). Its terrible, and all CCPs fault because this patch definitely borked something.. Considering prior to this latest patch everything worked fine, now their is framerate lag.. overviews being farking ******** and resetting, fleet windows pushing the overview off the screen... AKA CCP sucked with this patch harder than SOE did when they released SWG...

Actually, there is quite a lengthy thread of players who experienced a dramatic drop in their FPS since the patch. It's over in the Known Issues and Workarounds forum.

I was having bad fps yesterday so I downloaded the latest drivers for my video card and rebooted. Frames went from 4 to 12 fps to over 70 fps.
I know this won't fix alot of you but it seemed to have worked for me.

Hmmm, weird.
My 8800 Ultra is still chugging along at 60FPS. And before you go jumping to any crazy conclusions, yes, 60FPS is my desired framerate. I know, I know, I could be rocking 160 and beyond.
But what is the point of that? My monitor runs at 60mhz, therefore, forced Vertical Sync locks me at a max of 60FPS. This is all at 1680x1050. I've personally forced V-Sync, AA, and Anisotropic filtering all the way up for EVE, in the premium client.
Still no probs :)

Edited by: Lady Natacha on 25/03/2008 19:53:26 The lag is a bit worse today.
My shiny new video drivers got me all the way up to 18-20FPS when 70+ FPS is what I used to get pre-patch.
edit: card is a nVidia 7900GTX
Given that I am running the classic client which isn't supposed to really take advantage of my video card, I am left wondering: WTF CCP?

The new engine is on both clients - the Premium client just has the new textures, so either client should play nice with video cards. Unfortunately this is still a big WTF for CCP. ---------------- Tarminic - 34 Million SP in Forum Warfare Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.79.3 (Updated 3/24) |

Ahhh, right, it was the old classic-classic client that did not use the viddy card much..

More than 30 fps is pretty meaningless anyway. Your eyes won't notice the difference.
Actually, I've had (in large fleets) the fps drop down to 7 something without it really being an issue.

True enough, but I can guarantee you WILL notice large fluctuations, say, bouncing between 15-30 or even 15-60FPS. So, staying capped at 60 keeps me a happy camper.

Perhaps this is some sort of cosmic coincidence, but I prefer to hold the insane belief CCP borked it up. But at least we got sniper apocs eh.

I was right with you until you made that ludicrous claim. You obviiously have no idea what happened with SOE, the two are nothing alike. Making statements like this adds no credibility to your argument, rather it only serves to mark you as an alarmist and one who greatly exaggerates the situation.

For that card 40 FPS is not the best it could do running 2 clients, but honestly I'd also be quite content with 40 at this point.

It could do better I know, but my processor is really holding it back, but as long as it doesn't get choppy I don't really care how much the fps is overall Teamspeak Hosting

Have you taken a look at your process list and what % your exefile.exe is running at? Before a patch or two ago it was using 2-3%. Now it never drops below 40% of my total CPU.
