I see aot fo waste on my reprocessing, but the again I'm a newbie. What should I train or do so I can recover more material ?

under Industry: Refining / Rank 1
later when you got the above to Level 5, you can train Refining Efficincy and Ore-Specific skills, but thats for the long run.
currently you are propably better, to either sell the unrefined ore (depending on price in your system) or to have someone with trained refining skills, refine it for you. (either friend/corpmate or some you pay for refining, there are Trained Refiners roaming this universe.) -- my current auctions |

Hi Valerian,
Ki Shodan is quite right ibn what he says. Another thing to think about is doing agent missions for the corp/faction who owns the station you are refining at this will reduce the amount taken by them (Usually 5% to start with), but again this is further down the line I think. If you are mining anywhere in near Akila I will refine your Ore for free...Convo me in game, I am on most evenings.

I think he is asking about reprocessing, not refining.
I'd also like to know what reduces the amount of wastage when you reprocess equipment and ships. I've been getting lots of shuttles as mission rewards and would like to reduce the amount of raw materials I lose when I reprocess them.

Refining equals Reprocessing in this case by training the 2 above skills you reduce the waste when reprocessing items, too.
how ever to reduce the waste of reprocessing items further there is a skill called "Scrap Metal Reprocessing" or the like, but it was taken out of the game by CCP. -- my current auctions |

just to clear it up that scrap metal processing is not taken out. It's rather that the dev is still testing the skill therefore it was never released to the Live server.
If anyone has one then correct me.

Yes I did mean recycling items, sorry for the confusion! I figure I'd make more money selling reprocessed loot for some of these common pirates than to actually sell the item on the market, plus I'd get money much quicker!
Thanks for the advice!

You need to train up refining and then refinery efficiency. These affect your ore processing and your recycling.
You need to make sure that the station you are recycling at has an equipment efficiency of 50%(max). If you refine in a 30% station you will lose a lot.
You need to get your corp standing up to 6.67 with the station you refine at. If you have 0.0 corp standing the station will take 5% of your recycled minerals. As your standing increases this %age drops until at 6.67 the station takes 0% of your recycled minerals. I think they still take a token 1 mineral though. --------------------------------------------- Engineers motto; If it doesn't fit, force it. If it breaks it needed replacing anyway. |

From a little testing With small faction, and refining 4 you can turn a profit on ore vs. minerals.
As for reprocessing. I've not done any testing but it seems to be more faction based then ore refining.
More info as I find it.
Edit: Fixed a spelling error

Another point is that quite a lot of loot contains very small amounts of rare minerals, like megacyte and zydrine. To get the best out of your loot, keep it until you have at least 6-8 of each module, and you will recover more of the rare stuff. ---------------------------------------------- "Violence is the last resort of the incompetent". ---------------------------------------------- |

Open the recycle screen and see the text on the right of the screen just left of the station services icons. ----- Sable's Ammo Shop at Alentene 5, Moon 4, Duvolle Laboratories Factory. Ammo at affordable prices. |

Generally true. If you are getting a lot of loot think about it more though. If you get a 90% return refine in multiples of 10, 95% 20 etc.
