I found some asteroids in missions space with uncommon ore. I docked and flew back with my mining ship. Soon after mining the beacon used as the missions bookmark started shooting at me.
This happened on several occassions and I have never heard or read anything about this before. Only when I mine certain (not all) asteroids after killing all the missions ships. It does not seem to have a range limit and, while not devastating, was significantly more powerful than the the enemy ships in the mission. How does this work, or what are the rules by which the beacon will attack?

Apparently this has happened in the past. We'd appreciate it if you could bug report the incident Here

Several times? Why did you keep going back?

Not several times, several occasions, meaning in different missions. Sometimes the beacon doesn't shoot and I can mine just fine. But generally I don't try it any more. It's not that dangerous but getting chased out every other time isn't very money efficient.

This happens with one particular mission when you mine the asteroids (i think it was The Blockade). What actually happens is that the asteroids are booby trapped and will shoot back when you shoot them with your mining laser. Just switch to another mission and mine that. There is apparently just one mission that has these trapped asteroids. |

I have had this happen before, when i asked about it someone told me that "Some" missions npcs may set traps on the roids. They are activated while mining, kind of like a feedback stream of damage taken.

At the situation that is. I believe it was the Blockade mission as stated above. The 1st time this happend to me, I about crapped my pants thought someone was ganking my retriever. The adrenaline shock came due to me keeping an eye on my overview and no flashing ships were listed on it and all of a sudden I was bleeding red to about 1/3 of armor left in one shot.
My corp got a good laugh and said the same as above. That at least one mission had smartbomed roids in them. The next mission I recieved had a belt full of omber and I went to town for a few hours.
