But after that reply... Lost customer... Not another dime out of me toward your company. 4 accounts I will not be paying for anymore.
That kind of non-response and blowing off your problems as non-existant and never replying to anything is my problem and you just answered it with more of the same. Nice move Exlax. You just made up my mind for me. Unless my corps start paying for my accounts for me, my accounts will be running out over the next couple months.

No, it's a trap. Contract it to me.
On a more serious note, I've read the thread you linked.
What most people that whine about debugging, troubleshooting and betatesting don't grasp is that it's a golden rule of software engineering that non-trivial software has bugs, simple as that. Another one would be that as software ages it approaches something called entropy death, which means all the little changes to the codebase are making the code harder to maintain and more prone to bugs because of all the patchwork etc.
EVE is both a non-trivial (very much so) and aged project. Expect bugs and do not expect them to be found all in betatesting. It's just impossible, especially if you don't have a huge crowd of betatesters (get your asses on sisi, folks) and the only thing to get around entropy death is a complete rewrite, something which I've heard is under way with some node management software or another (enabling it to dynamically re-allocate CPUs to nodes and other fancy stuff, read that somewhere in a devblog iirc).
And if you say that your system is not unique, do you count in drivers (including clean driver updates instead of just blindly running the install package), age of your windows installation, miscellaneous other software installed, spyware and virii you have on your machine? Problems with EvE (and pretty much everything else for that matter) can arise from any of the above or combinations thereof. Quite hard to troubleshoot in beta, don't ya think? I've got an almost (different mobo and CPU at that time) identical system as a friend, we've both had a fresh windows install, and only a few other apps installed, but Civ 4 just wouldn't run without crashes on his machine (edit: while running perfectly on mine). That's life (or rather software engineering). ------------ You get a wonderful view from the point of no return. |

This thread and discussions of this kind does still not belong in Game Development where "Test server feedback, comments to changes and fixes" is discussed.
And even if you post something like this in the correct forum, there is not much constructive content in it. Making a list of 10 things that you like to be changed and supply suggestions to how they can be changed would be a constructive way and this could very well be discussed. A thread where the OP says that he/she is sick and tired of everything and will quit is not constructive.

Haha burn.
Good work ccp, Its good to see a decent responce to something like this from you guys. There is problems in this game and there always will be. Its not something that ccp or anyone else will ever be able to get perfect. But as far as Im concerned its about as good a game as Ive ever played, or ever will. Now lock the tread before he rants again
