I'm sure this thread has been made before, but I'm too lazy to look it up
Has CCP ever thought of being able to make you actually control the ship, i.e. use a joystick, or controllers, or mouse(not just clicking) to fly?

REAL = joystick ?
Erm.. that's a bold statement. How exactly do you think are those huge ships controlled? I know there was this Star Trek movie where they actually controlled the Enterprise by joystick. It was hilarious, to say the least.
On a more serious note, yes, it's right there in the Commonly Proposed Ideas thread.

This is a commonly proposed idea, See the sticked tread at the top of this forum for the full details.
The basic reason its not possible is that a mouse click generates one set of instructions for the sever to process, A joystick will generate several per second. Given the lag issues, this would increase and make direct control impossible. Remember the network desigh was created to support dial up connections.
Macrointel, the place were the nature order of the universe does not hold sway. Pirates and ore thief's are congrated by carebears for the actions. |

Not only this but the turrets in the game are exactly that, turrets that rotate, they are not guns mounted on the ship that only face one direction. this worked in swg jtl but there space was exactly that, void of life so lag was not an issue due to no one being there.
